We received this email from the CEO of the Advocate this morning. Since when does the general public have to supplement the salaries of journalist. Why not plant workers, public employees, etc. this needs to stop.
Welcome to SUBSCRIBER INSIDER, a free monthly newsletter from Georges Media. If you have a question or feedback, please reply to this email. Thanks for reading and subscribing.
FROM OUR CEO
Dear reader,
We’re kicking off our $100K in 100 Days campaign — a critical year-end effort to support impactful, independent journalism in Louisiana. As we approach the final months of the year, we’re calling on our community to step up and help raise $100,000 by Dec. 31 to invest directly in the reporters and editors who bring essential news to your inbox, your screens, and your neighborhoods.
For local newsrooms to thrive, we need more than page views — we need people like you who believe in the power of journalism to inform, uplift and hold the powerful to account. Your support helps make possible the kind of ambitious reporting that defines who we are.
Our newsrooms’ reporting has led to real change across the state. Our in-depth series on infant mortality uncovered how Louisiana's alarmingly high rates — especially among Black babies — reflect systemic failures in health care access and equity, prompting public conversation and renewed scrutiny of state policies. Our coverage of the ongoing insurance crisis has helped readers navigate skyrocketing premiums and exposed the regulatory and industry gaps leaving thousands of Louisianans vulnerable.
These are stories that matter — and they’re made possible through community investment. If you value local, truth-driven journalism, we hope you’ll consider making a gift today. Every dollar brings us closer to our goal and strengthens the newsroom that Louisiana deserves.
Give now and be part of the movement to keep powerful local journalism alive.
With gratitude,

Desperation from a dying medium.

OR...and here me out...They can be better journalists and write stories everyone locally wants to read. Then, they will increase paid subscribers and the advertising money will follow. Wild concept, I know.

I try to read articles on The Advocate often to get paywalled. I could use a paywall remover but I just close it out and find another site. Why can't the Advocate remove the paywall and survive on ads like 99% of the rest of the internet?

If you need to fundraise to cover costs, you aren't very powerful or relevant.

Yeah, I really want to help finance the lifestyles of people that want to have members of my family shot because they fit a demographic they hate. I'll pass.

The US is shifting and the left is going to struggle with it badly.
