here's mine. the other team scored to take the lead. you have enough time to go, although it's somewhat close, but with timeouts you are not desperate. Why the hell don't these special teams coaches (head coaches who are ultimately responsible) give explicit instructions not to run the f**king football on the kickoff? You saw it with Auburn this weekend. It was critical that they start at the 25. the guy runs it out, and can you believe it there was a block in the back on the 15 yard return?

I'll never figure it out. if you're down under a minute and need a td, that's different;.

Zone-read on 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 when you have been struggling to run the football

Poor clock management.

It is so simple. Some teams have guys on the sideline specifically for clock management. And still, very experienced coaches screw it up all the time.

1st and 10 incomplete pass. 2nd down run up the middle every time. It's so predictable.

Man I’m here. Medium to long developing run plays when your line is having trouble sustaining blocks just seems like a terrible idea.

Using timeouts to prevent delay of game in the second half. Unless it's a critical down, those 5 yards are not worth it.

One subtle thing that drives me crazy is when we send the offense out on 4th and short, run the play clock down, and THEN call timeout and send the field goal team out without having at least tried a hard count to draw the other team offsides. There is literally no downside to at least trying a hard count in that situation

First offensive series, we drive inside opponent 20 yard line and fail on third down and short. Coach decides to go for it on 4th and short, and gets stopped. What is so bad about getting 3 points on our opening drive?!!

Not taking points (FGs). It always comes back to haunt.

This.

Take the points.

And scoring a touchdown and going for two in the first half or the first half of the third quarter. Kick the extra point.

Take the points.

Prevent defense when you have a defensive scheme that has been shutting down a team all day. I’ve watched so many defensive coordinator’s just let a team casually march down the field and either score to win or tie it with a field goal or let them score or kick it before half when they get the ball after. They claim they don’t want to get beat deep, but the chances of that are the same regardless of what point you are in the game. Just run the same damn defensive scheme you’ve ran all game that they’ve struggled to move the ball on. It’s fine in games they don’t have a chance to win, sure, let them run clock, but it happens so much in close games and it’s insanity to me.

Defense accepting delay of game penalty when the offense is punting on a short field, e.g. on the defense's side of the 50. The offense wants the 5 yard penalty to decrease the chances of the punt going into the end zone and being a touchback. If you're the defense, why do what the offense wants?? Why not decline the penalty?
