One of the ESPN broadcaster last night said Kelly two weeks ago intervened and made. them start teaching or working on the 3 point stance. What to think about it?

Sounds like a guy who is not going to let his best shot at a NC go down without knowing he did everything possible in his power to win

This.

In the Era of the spread offense at the lower levels many high school teams have their OL in 2 pt stances majority of the time.

I don’t understand how you don’t teach this even if you mainly are in a 2 point stance. The recruiting pitch of “we’re gonna get you ready for the NFL” should mean they do stuff like this

If Kelly is doing this, what is the purpose of Brad Davis?

None that I can think off.

Get Mawae, Whitworth and Quinn in here to finish it out.

The improvement will be immediate............

Kinda like going under center to run the ball (which is ancient today), I liked the wrinkle. It will keep the backers honest and from jumping the gaps like you see running from the shotgun.

its hard to find a HS QB that has ever been under center.

I dont even know what to make of this. All state right tackle, my own coach who was an EXCEPTIONAL offensive line coach, couldn't tell me what to do. I wore baseball gloves and I rested on my first knuckle curve. My dad played for alabama and he put his whole fist in the ground.

I saw a video of an all pro talking about how we all have different bodies and comfortabilities and while one lineman may hold his hand one way, another will feel far more balanced in another. We have different body measurements, and my sweet spot was resting on my first set of knuckles. I could pop up to pass block, while having just enough forward weight to fire off and destroy on a rum block.

A head coach micromanaging a 3 point stance to me is... bizarre, especially when I assume BK didn't play O line in college. They need to fix things but their 3 point stance can't be it.

At no point did they say they just started teaching it nor did they say Kelly was getting into the details of the actual stance.

They just said Kelly wanted them to use it more to get the OL firing off the ball better in the run game.

I'm pretty sure I said baseball gloves, not catcher mits. Offensive lineman gloves were too thick for my taste.

going under center

It’s just something that you should absolutely be able to do.

Maybe you only do it 20% of the time, or less.
But running something like a QB sneak from under center, should be easy.
You should be able to line up in an old fashioned power I, and run simple wam and ISO plays,
And run counters off of them, when it’s time to eat clock and ice a game…

It’s fundamental stuff that any team should have the capability to do.

3 pt waaay better for run blocking. Hard to get much forward push from a 2 pt stance.

The head coach having to teach the offensive line how to correctly get in a 3 point stance 2 weeks into the season seems like a problem...

Nowadays, you can be a five star guard coming out of HS, and yet have never pulled in your life.

How the hell do they not know what a 3-point stance is?
