How is everybody feeling about teal season this year? We hunt around Venice and sounds like there are a few birds in the area. Hope to make a teal & red snapper cast and blast this weekend.

My hole is dry with no way to pump water, and I recently realized the season is only 9 days this year.

ETA: So, not feeling that great on my private stuff. I may go hunt public water and see if I can kill some cinnamon teal on Toledo Bend.

I was down there the past two weekends fishing east bay. I didn't see any birds around south pass/joseph bayou area.

Did you find any snapper around there? I hit it twice in last 6 weeks and struck out both times. Had to run to south pass for fish.

Would they be in full plumage this time of year?

Was in Venice down river this weekend. Caught our limit of small snapper. Came in and fished all over inside. Did not see one teal. Jumped four black ducks and that was it.

Same here. Been down the last two weekends in Pass A Loutre WMA. Not a bird to be found. Could be up around Baptiste and Delta, but they aren't south of pilot town.

It’s what people DTB have called mottled ducks for over 50 years.
