I had the same thing but they caught me coming out of it and re-dosed me pretty quick. I didn't feel any pain, just the doctor yanking my head around like a bass with a hook in its mouth.

I'd assume the anesthesia is the same for all medical procedures. Knock you out, perform then you come out of it all confused. Make sure someone is there to record what you do when you come to. Some of those videos are hilarious.

Propofol, fentanyl and ketamine for the longer procedures, so I’ve heard.

I have had 2 implants. I was sedated and did not feel anything. I was awake. The recovery was pretty easy, be prepared to eat soft food or awhile.

Depends on a facility/ length of procedure, you could get a CRNA and a LMA or you could get an anesthesiologist and a ET tube. Or a combo of either. Regardless, you’ll likely get Prop for induction.

Had a procedure where I had all of my silver fillings removed and replaced with modern fillings, about 5 or 6 in total. Went with local and gas for that since it was going to take long and be a lot of drilling.

My experience was strange, at one point I got too deep into the gas and had a kind of out of body experience and could hear my heartbeat pounding in my head. Had a full-fledged panic attack. The dentist warned me about this before we started and gave me a hand signal to tell him to stop for a moment. Good thing about gas is that if you stop breathing it in, you come out of it really fast. It took me no time to get my head right, dentist made an adjustment to the gas level, gave me some instruction on how to meter how much effect it would have by adjusting my breathing and it was smooth sailing from there on. Even with the little hiccup, it was a much better experience than trying to fight through it fully conscious.

After many years of having dentists and oral surgeons crawl around in my mouth I can say with great assurance that pain avoidance is much better now. Multimodal analgesia is usually administered through a vein on the back of your hand. Your pulse and blood oxygen are monitored as a precaution. If your experience is like mine, you will have a pleasurable slight buzz then lights out. The cocktails they give now minimize the post-op grogginess. Good luck.

Got my wisdom teeth out 2 years ago and they put me under in the office. I remember them putting the IV in and then I woke up. I had my tonsils removed when I was 21 or so and that’s the only other time I was under. I remember being a hell of a lot more groggy after that procedure.

There is no way I could have been able to be awake while they cut, pull, yank and destroy my wisdom teeth. I remember talking after the IV, then waking up. I have nerve damage in my chin even because I was 37 when I got them removed. I don't even care about the nerve damage....and it wasnt his fault anyway, the part I am thrilled about was I was out and didnt have to feel or see what was happening. Worth every penny if you are a coward like I am.
