The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office is under a cyberattack.
The cyberattack was reported around 4:30 a.m.
The incident was detected by the sheriff's office at 8 a.m. when employees couldn't access their computers.
According to the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office, the cyberattack is a ransomware attack and is not compromising the jail's computer system.

So the Sheriff dept doesn’t use computers between 4:30 and 8:00?

I’m sure the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s IT department will be right on it

They're probably still running on XP.

How could one determine that the sheriff's office is under cyber attack? The New Orleans' Sheriff's office has the shittiest, slowest website on the internet.

I hope to any and all things holy that I am never in a position to verify this claim.

Makes it sound like they knew at 8am and didn't report it until 4:30 the next morning... which wojldnt surprise me

They're probably still running on XP.

Or the other way around (however incompetent (and yet believable) that may be)...
Cyberattacker to the Sheriff's Office at 4:30 a.m.: "Pay us or else."
Sheriff's Office 3.5 hours later: "Hey, I think we might have a problem here."

Hell, I'm more surprised they figured it out as early as 8:00 am than anything.

To be fair, they probably don’t use them between 8 and 430, either…

I wonder if they were able to handle the Sheriff sales today.

At least they reported the attack somewhat timely and didn’t wait months like the DMV.

Was the door to the office locked?

I guess the inmates figured out how to steal the cache and jump through the open Windows.
