It's week 1 and there is A LOT of football left to be played. Clemson is still top 8 or so in odds to win the national championship, so it's no more silly to pick Clemson than it is to pick LSU, Georgia, Oregon, Miami, Penn State, etc.

Just bc he said Clemson will win doesn’t mean it will. Why do yall get so worked up about what sports commentators say. If they predict lsu to lose Saturday, that doesn’t mean they will. He is only going off his/her research and making a prediction.

They are basically a shoe in for the playoff. There is a reason Dabo thought they would go undefeated. The rest of their schedule is crap.
But that team will not win the championship. Every team worth a dime has beaten them last year and we just dominated them this year.
They are who they are. A very good team but not championship caliber.

Also, LSU was robbed of 7 points. Teams are not nearly as close as score. This is the worst that our brand new defense will play. All AT Clemson.

Doubling down on Clemson to win after watching that is funny. They are fundamentally sound on D but few athletes. Their O has 3 WRs and a great QB. No RB and a mid OL.

Yeah, I never understand why people get bent out of shape about these things either.
Clemson has 11 more games to play. It's possible, maybe likely, they won't play a better team than LSU in those 11 games. Plus, they don't have to be 11-1 or 10-2 to make the CFP. They just have to win the ACC. We'll see what FSU and Miami ultimately look like as the season goes along, but Clemson only has to play FSU of those two...and it's at home.
Last year ND lost to N. Illinois in week 2. They went on to play for the NC. Even with the loss to LSU it still seems likely Clemson makes the CFP. Once there, who knows what could happen? Did anyone have ND playing for the National Championship after week 2 of last year?
