Buddy of mine loaned me his 40-volt Kobalt last year and that thing seemed like a beast.

I already have a bunch of 20-volt Dewalt batteries so i was throwing the idea around of just buying the saw only, but I'm not sure how a 20-volt would work.

Any of you guys have any input on this subject?

Ego maybe. But it's probably fairly pricey. I've heard good things about Greenworks. Might be worth a shot. It says it has a 4 year warranty. Kind of shocked by that for around $100

Not sure if the best but 40v kobalt has been a beast for me too. Don’t use often but worked it hard after Ida.

Battery lasts forever too

I have the Ryobi 18 volt and it's amazing. Had it for several years and no trouble at all.

I have a 20v dewalt pole saw/ hedge trimmer and it does everything I’ve ever asked of it with 2 acres full of trees.

I have the Dewalt...it's a mini chainsaw. Worked well for me. Just have bar oil and batteries around.

Might go ahead and go with the Dewalt since I already have the batteries. I have the hedge trimmer already and it’s worked great plus I’ve been impressed with the battery life in that tool.

I’ve had my ryobi for a couple years without problems and abused it hard as I also have a gas pole saw. But I came here to say, you can buy battery converters now to put one brand into another. So I’m not sure the age ole “buy the same brand only” still really matters

Had the Dewalt. Thing would cut great, but lasted like 3 little cuts.
Have an Ego now. Could cut multiple branches from multiple trees with it. It’s a beast.

If you’re cutting a branch or two, sure the dewalt is ok. But if you are making several cuts, you need more than a shitty 20v.

Ego with extension is great. I have seen people put two extensions on it, I might just try it for one tree I want to get at.

I have had the dewalt 20v pole saw for several years now and my experience has been the total opposite. I have many batteries but can normally make more than 100 cuts on one 5ah battery. And I'm talking 4/5/6 inch cuts. The thing works great and just never quits. Maybe you had a lemon, I'm not sure.

In case you want to expand your tool series go with the 60v so you can interchange the batteries amongst tools.

I have the DeWalt combo trimmer pole saw, I also have 4 5ah batteries so running out of juice isn't an issue. butchered a lot of trees with it.

Started buying green works 60 volt, have an edger and weed eater. as DeWalt tools die will move to green works.

Did it have a brushless motor? I think those don't eat batteries like the old ones.

I have the ryobi 40V with the ExpandIt that attaches to the weedeater head. I've used it for the past 4 or so years and t's been a beast.

The only problem is that the weedeater head can get heavy and awkward to use. The one that is just the actual tool is pretty well balanced and much easier to handle.

I have the Milwaukee and it's a beast. Used it yesterday to limb oaks for a couple hours on the same battery.

I have the Milwaukee (18v) and it is a beast as well. I cleared half the trees on my property with it after Ida.
