Haven’t watched it yet, but I still think his original review of the Phantom Menace might still be the single funniest video the internet has ever produced.

There was an article, or tweet, that came out recently, mentioned when Ron Howard was working on Solo, Lucas reminded him "this is for 12 year old boys".

Star Wars fans basically brought this on themselves. It's a lot of garbage, but when someone puts real effort into the IP (see Andor, Bad Batch, even Rebels), it's barely noticed or appreciated. So they go back to the well.

You made your bed.

That's my abbreviated rant.

1) that's not really even a Plinkett video. that's mostly just a RLM video with the guy using the Plinkett voice. whatever

2) the RLM guys acting like they are above the fray and mocking the online outrage crew (Drinker, Nerdrotic, etc) is disingenuous at best. in many ways, they were they originators of that kind of thing, but now they want to act like they are a different thing. Plinkett being now somewhat pro-Acolyte is a perfect example - it's a contrarian take just because the rest of YouTube hated it, and they want to seem different.

3) i agree with most of the video anyways, and the overall message of it all being just too much to care about anymore is one that resonates with me. the clip at the end of the original 1977 action figures and lamenting the fact that the magic is gone forever was exactly how i feel about Star Wars, and that's ok. i'm 44 and it's unrealistic and a little ridiculous to think that Star Wars will ever be what it was forty years ago, or that i could even be made to feel about it the way i felt about it as a kid.

I'll be honest. The voice he does as Plinkett I can't really take for too long.

It's sad when some of the more celebrated content in the Star Wars fandom are cartoon shows and a mini-series on Disney Plus that most people will never watch. Not digging at the shows themselves, just making light of how awful the recent SW films have been

Disney lost all goodwill by this point, combined with a failed streaming strategy.

He was making fun of the people who are now “reappreciating” the prequels

I wonder what things would look like if it was Amazon or Apple that bought the rights and made all of the exact same material.

We dont get hate threads for Lord of the Rings nearly as often despite Rings of Power existing.

Apple, Amazon, Disney, Paramount, Warner are all evil because they are all trying to monopolize content. That isnt gonna stop me from watching Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings or Star Wars content if it is good.

You forget the context. These guys love schlock. They crave it. They are complete hack frauds. When they originally reviewed Acolyte, they said the same thing.

Star Wars is poison now. And the howling and screeching from both sides is insufferable. Any time someone mentions anything Star Wars related now, I just tune out (except for Andor, I need to check that out). I overwatched the OT when I was a kid, suffered through whatever Lucas was smoking with the prequel trilogy, was really hopefull after Episode 7, and am completely done after everything they've put out since.

Only thing that would make my ears perk up, is a 4K transfer of the Original, untouched, Original 3 movies. Just so I can show my kids what I saw before George Lucas lost his fricking mind, or I can be nostalgic before I go back to my normal existence.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but you lost me here. The general consensus on seems to be that Andor is great and the best Disney x Star Wars product by a long shot (which I think is objectively true).

The Terminator timeline by Science Man was as good as it gets.

Andor was huge for Disney Plus and got massive ratings in its 2nd season

Never going to happen

I agree with this. In our "content creator" driven media cycles, even the best attempt at Star Wars will be met with the most ridiculous criticism imaginable even though I think there is STILL the opportunity to make some quality movies. It would have to be a dramatic change in what has been done already. I'm talking a Batman Forever to Batman Begins level shift.

Guys who watch star wars material looking for the type of thrill they got with the OT are chasing a white dragon. The feeling you got on the first watch will never come back. Not because there cant be another great Star Wars movie but because you were a kid when you saw it.

Solo really isn’t a bad movie.

The press around it and the post ST attitude probably tanked it more than it deserves.

Disney has produced good SW content but it’s mostly been outside the central movies

Andor, Rogue One, The Mandalorian

I am excited about Star Fighter.

Post ST i think the whole franchise became waaaaay to Jedi centric while the OT had lots of other sci fu stuff going on too.

yeah but he was also making fun of the people who just didnt like the Acolyte and made several statements indicating that it wasnt that bad. which who knows, maybe he really did like it. just seems unlikely, and that he's more interested in just not blending in with what other YouTube creators are doing.

He was giving it "credit" for at least trying to do something different (while pointing out it really didn't)

I have consumed all recent Star Wars content and have really enjoyed it. I have gone back and watched Boba Fett and Solo movie. You as a kid star wars fans would have loved these shows. Boba Fett and Sandpeople hanging out. More Han and Chewy. But your adult self needs to crap on these shows on the internet now. Let that kid you used to be enjoy the content.

For some reason, maybe it's the clips and editing, I can watch his long arse reviews. Those dudes on podcasts or whatever are fricking horrible and I can't listen to 5 seconds of their nerdy voices
