I still can't get passed Zach Baun not being able to see the field while on this team

Dennis Allen is a complete idiot. Look at the year we had Browner and how many times he put him on the speed receiver (this was 2015 when we brought Allen in to "baby sit" Ryan and run the coverage after Ryan failed to mimic the Payton mandated Seattle Cover 3 defense in 2014 which he had never run before and certainly did not have the players for, after an EXTREMELY successful 2013 defense getting us into the top 5 in both yards and points iirc with his man blitz scheme).

Not to mention 3rd and Allen where anything over 6 yards was almost a guaranteed conversion for the other team.

We have had so much defensive talent wasted because of Allen. We luckily had a brief period where they largely outplayed his scheme (when Payton was still here), but it's directly because of 3rd and Allen we were never able to go far enough.

All we can do now is move on with what we have after that jack arse royally fricked the team.

the side bar of this issue is that it would have been nice if pete werner tapped into his full potential of what the saints staff were seeing. Werner is good but its like he plateaued a bit.

This is dumb. He was a very good DC and a big reason why we were good between 2017-2020. Offense couldn’t deliver in the playoffs in 2019 and 2020.

How the frick does that happen?

I'm not taking anything away from Dennis Allen being a complete idiot of a coach.

However, Zack Baun chose the right team to go to.

First of all the Eagles defense is made up of top pick players and mainly from Georgia and Alabama.

But most important is that Vic Fangio is the defensive coordinator

The man is legendary as far as his defenses go.

Hell he's one of the architects of the Dome Patrol, so yeah, Baun is supposed to do well in that defense.

Baun has talent, but would he have done well somewhere else? Is he a product of the system? I like to see how he does without Vic Fangio calling plays or having an offense with Saquan Barkley to keep their defense on the sidelines longer.

* One other thing to note, who did Philadelphia play last year?

Obviously the NFC South, we know how bad that division was

They play Jacksonville last year

They played the Giants twice last year

That's basically 7 games there that a defense can ball out.

They used him specifically in packages, but they trotted him out there as a boundry corner.

I remember watching the game where Browner kept getting burned, and DA said something to him, then B.B went off on him. Cant blame him.

But yeah. Baun also said he had to re dedicate himself to the "game"
So maybe there was something else there going on.

I remember when Malcom Jenkins went to the Eagles and became very successful there. He had mentioned the same thing.

Reguardless though, Saints Staff/Personall dont seem to ever have the right people in the building on the management side.

This happens when you have a scheme and find players for the scheme

VERSUS

Identifying what a player does best and let him do those things on the field… scheme be damned.

This site is the only place fans cry over every past player who goes to another team and does anything lol.
