I think he's getting off too easy on this one. Hopefully he dies in prison.
ETA: this fricker had 3 prior cases. Why the frick was he free?

Thomas Allen McCartney, 37, pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted first-degree rape of a child under the age of 13. As part of the plea deal, he also agreed to serve 40 years in state prison, according to the Vernon Parish District Attorney’s Office.
When McCartney was arrested in 2023, authorities said he had been caught sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl. He was already a Tier 3 sex offender in Louisiana, having been convicted of attempted aggravated rape in 2011. He was arrested on one count of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile in 2006 and on two counts of aggravated rape of a 12-year-old in 2010.
I think he's getting off too easy on this one. Hopefully he dies in prison.

Some of these judges need to be tarred and feathered in a public square.
There is no fricking reasonable explanation that a judge can give me on why this guy wasn't already in prison for the rest of his life for aggravated rape of a 12 year old AFTER he already had a record with a prior sex crime conviction involving a juvenile.

I would take that deal right now. If we could get the sentencing out of the hands of some of these liberal judges and every pedophile got mandatory 40 years and castration, I'd say society gets the win.

I’m guessing the castration saved him from a life sentence? Otherwise i don’t see why he’d agree to that if he’s still getting 40 years. I think I’d just take the shittier sentence and keep my balls. Doubt he makes it out of prison alive anyway.

In the case of the last (and maybe the first under this law) piece of shite it was a condition of him ever gaining parole. Before he is granted parole in the future he has to be castrated. If not, he won't be eligible for parole.
