I would guess about a year and a half for voice actors, and six months later, screen actors will be nothing but a rumor.

Stage actors will be safe for a little while longer.

Or controversy from casting people of other races. Going to be hilarious when the Wokest of the Woke shows replace white voice actors with AI just to prove a point.

AI gonna screw up reality. I watched about a minute of a YT video of current thinking on topics in cosmology. The hook was this 10 woman doing the narration in a black dress with a plunging neckline. She wasn't real.

Any reality where Peter Cullen wasn’t Optimus Prime is the true darkest timeline.

Naw. This is a hill the actor's guild will die on.

It’s hard to be mad at them. We’ve seen plenty of examples of other industries that settle for lower quality as long as it saves money. And unfortunately, the American consumer has spoken. We don’t care if it’s a shittier product as long as it is cheaper.

And the argument against AI is pretty easy. It’s essentially a giant plagiarism machine. Somewhere those eyebrows, that cheekbone, that mannerism, inflection of voice, etc. belongs to or was created by someone else.

As well they should.

Alan Tudyk's recent turn on Katee Sackhoff's podcast illustrates the point on how AI can never replace human creativity.

Here he is talking about how improv skills are invaluable in the booth:

Can AI make the new Dale's voice on KOTH sound more like old Dale?

There exists a possible sad future where human made art is a niche luxury item. The lowest common denominator will sadly accept AI slop without hesitation.

Seems there are plenty here that want their animated shows and audiobooks to sound like that godawful AI narrator for TikTok videos. Couldn’t tell you why. Those voices make me irrationally angry.

It is going to be interesting.

I don’t see this making the product cheaper for consumers. Movie tickets won’t get cheaper. Subscription services won’t get cheaper. So any drop in quality won’t be compensated for on the affordability end.

This will effect more so the lower end voice actors vs celebrities. Chris Pratt doing a voice has value beyond the character sounding like chris pratt

they may try and replace the real pros, but they are honestly the ones that can create different unique voice

I just started watching a ton of Anime and a guy like Alex Le who does Zenitsu in Demon Slayer and Jinwoo Sung in Solo Leveling can really do a lot as a voice actor Indont think you’ll get with AI regurgitating the same voices.

There will def be cheaper options, AI will enable a ton of new "studios" to begin making content. Most of it will be garbage but it will be cheap.
