Which of the four largest cities is the most livable?
Chicago doesn’t seem awful.

Houston
Chicago - winter sucks
NYC - just no
Los Angeles - no to California

Of those 4 Chicago all day.

Despite all of the problems it's currently experiencing, New York City is still a very cool place.

Don’t know about livable but I’ll take Houston over the other ones because of the tax situation and state government

If money wasn't a factor: NYC > Chicago > LA >>>>>> Houston
Houston shoots to the top when factoring in COL

Chicago winters are a no for me! Out of these 4 I’d choose LA but only if the rules allow me to live in OC instead of LA county.

Houston, then Chicago. I could live in NYC, but only for a while. I’m past that stage of life and being able to put up with everything that comes with the chaos of NYC. I would NEVER consider LA.

The South Bay of L.A. hands down
You are away from the wackos, in some of the most expensive zip codes, and the temps are cooler due to proximity to the ocean. You are also pretty centrally located for activities all over both LA and Orange county

What do you mean by livable?
Cost? Crime? Safety? Etc.
Of the 4, only lived in Chicago and currently in Houston (past 2 years).
If I had to choose, it’s Chicago all day long. Winters are brutal, but I felt safer in the nice parts of town than when I lived in the nice parts of BR or NOLA

Chicago is awesome. Houston and NYC suck.

Lived in 2 of them. Visited other 2 many times. Leaving politics out. COL critical to livable but leaving that out.
1. Chicago - pro’s are city vibe and all that goes with it, all 4 seasons, cons - winter is cold and can be long.
2. NYC - amazing worldly city with access to lots of US history and character in that region.
3. Houston - bland, concrete jungle with sprawled out sameness but has good jobs and Tex Mex. Food is very solid in general but in a wealthy ethos way. Only reason it’s not 4 is I dislike LA more.
4. LA - pockets are amazing but overall meh, CA taxes, and Earthquakes.
