7 run plays - no yards gained

Concerning a bit with this stat. This is between first and second offenses. First offense was going against second D. We only had one play with positive yards and it was a 2 yard gain. Beleive this was in redzone/goaline offense.

Our defense going to be really good. We are still figuring out the o line.

Scrutinizing preseason practices is futile...if the offense does great, that means the defense sucks, and vice versa...
I wonder how preseason practices with Burrow and crew were in 2019...

Cancel the season. Defense won at practice

How did they look in the other 50+ plays in practice?

All im saying is it concerning we cant run the ball on our second D in goaline offense. We are 11 practices in and the oline is still getting whooped regularly. Think there is enough film/reports to say that is our weakest link by far. In 2019 we were not breaking in a whole new oline. Irrelevant comment.

Same as most of the other 10 practices. Not good/consistent. Interior line is a problem at this moment.

Good pitching beats good hitting

Well, it must be that we run the same 3 Run Pl. that we’ve always run in the past 3-4 years. defense knows those plays so well.

And BK supposedly chewed out Sloan for trying something different.

It's goal line defense, and you're concerned because we had trouble running the ball?
I'm excited the defense has been doing well in camp from all reports. It gives me hope of things to come.

When camp is over CBK/Staff will have compiled a team of lifetakers & heartbreakers. By game day they will be mean nasty & tired. They'll be eating concertina wire & pissing napalm. Improvising, adapting & overcoming adversity. Half way through the 1st quarter CBK is coming out to the hash & telling the Clemson sideline to sit there & bleed a while before they taste some real pain.
Get off my lawn.

It’s part of the reason we were one of the worst red zone offenses last year

LSU wasn't breaking in a new OL last season. Far from it. Yet, they were last in the SEC in rushing. If (big IF because camp doesn't always predict the regular season) LSU struggles to run the ball over the course of two different seasons with two VASTLY different OL, then don't you have to start looking at the constants between the two? Or, in other words, what is more likely? That two completely different O-lines (one of whom had 4 three year starters who were all drafted) suck? Or, is it perhaps the approach to the running game in general isn't good? An approach designed and called by the same OC in each of the two seasons?
Obviously the hope is that the defense is really good and LSU will fare much better against weaker defenses. But if it doesn't, perhaps the OL (this year and last) may not be the problem

If it makes you feel better, I'm pretty sure Saban was quoted saying that he would rather his practices have dominant defensive play because that meant the offense he had would be better against weaker defenses.

not worried about offense. you can win games by just throwing the ball ,if its just about ball control then quick passes and screens until the box is light enough to run on. there's always more than a couple ways to skin a cat/ tiger/aligator/fig/elephant/rooster/whatever .

Sloan has surrendered to the fact we cant run the ball when we need to, Kelly at least wanted to see the failure.
Gimmicky stuff will work fine against La Tech. Big, fast, athletic defenses will blow that up every time. They know its coming.

Goodness I am so concerned, taking a mental health day from work. Keep me posted.
