Planned Parenthood is ceasing operations in Louisiana and shutting down its reproductive health clinics in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, part of a wave of closures of the organization's clinics across the U.S. due to funding issues and moves by the Trump administration to cut off access to federal money.

The nonprofit, which has operated in Louisiana for more than 40 years, said in a prepared statement that it informed its staff on Friday of the closures that will take effect Sept. 30.

There is still a need for women’s health. I thought only 0.001% of PP services was abortions. Weird.

Funny how when your main income revenue stops that you have to close on down, though they used to try their hardest to claim that it was only "3% of their services"

Selling dead baby parts must have accounted for a larger percentage of their revenue than we thought or they'd admit.

I don’t think Planned Parenthood has ever done abortions in Louisiana. They have provided low cost women’s heath treatment and birth control meds in locations with a high poverty rate clientele. And they are not being replaced in those areas, so this is actually a bad thing for public health.

You would think an enterprising operation couldn’t rebrand into something like National Women’s Health Services and drop abortion procedures entirely and still rake in Government funding and grants from wealthy donors. They could offer nonabortive pregnancy crisis services, assistance with baby formula, early child care education services, birth control options, and adoption services if the mother chooses to put the child up for adoption.

Member when the left was fighting us on stopping fed funding to planned parenthood, and they said that "majority of PPs funds come from something other than the government"....

Potato, potahto

quote:

According to its latest annual report, Planned Parenthood committed over 400,000 abortions across the nation. Additionally, it has spent over $1 million in Louisiana and Texas to transport women to other states for abortions, while aggressively promoting dangerous abortion pills by mail.

So you choose to push straight up lies this early? Good luck.

quote:

Louisiana Right to Life affirms its ongoing commitment to supporting women facing unplanned pregnancies. With more than 30 pregnancy resource centers statewide, along with numerous public and private healthcare providers, women have access to compassionate care, medical services, and real support.

To find life-affirming help, citizens can visit www.FindHelpLA.com.

Erica Inzina, J.D., Policy Director of Louisiana Right to Life, added:

“We want every woman to know that she is not alone. There is hope, and there is help available throughout Louisiana. Life-affirming options exist, and we are here to walk alongside women every step of the way.”

PP needs to be completely shut down so that there are zero dollars going to fund abortions in this country. Any positive contributions they make anywhere are far outweighed by the murders they perform as an organization.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act imposes a one-year ban on Medicaid payments to any nonprofit health care provider that performs abortions and received more than $800,000 in federal funding in 2023. In other words, if Planned Parenthood felt what they were doing outside of abortion were so important then all they needed to do to continue receiving federal funding was to stop providing abortions.

They chose abortions over providing all of those other services, even to the point of staying in business. Their closing is on the heads of those running Planned Parenthood and no one else.

Downvoters, feel free to prove me wrong.

Scam. Even the name is phony. Most of their work was unparenting. They murdered more people than were killed in all the wars since 1776.
Also they sold human body parts.
The ww2 nazis would be really impressed by PP..

The article mentions several times that Planned Parenthood has never been licensed to do abortions in Louisiana. However, they drop this in toward the end:

quote:

Unable to provide abortions, Planned Parenthood continued to provide other services while helping Louisianans access out-of-state abortion care, covering costs including airfare, lodging and child care.

They use federal funds to pay for abortion vacations out-of-state.

Correct, because they were unable to get the required licenses. Instead they spent money shipping women to other abortion clinics. Weird business model, even for healthcare.
