"1.7% of the population is intersex"

This claim is thrown around by the trans community. I am 45 years old and have never run into an "intersex" person - and while I know that it is a medical condition, 1.7% always sounded ridiculous. This X thread explains why.
Spoiler: An activist made it up.

That means we all know between 3-5 intersex/trans people and are closely related to at least 1.
I don’t buy it.

What is the actual percentage?
1.7% doesn't seem that terribly high to me.

It’s not about whether it seems high but whether it seems right.

According to the NIH, about 0.018%.
Almost 100 times lower than the activist nonsense number.
Basically two orders of magnitude lower.

The thread says that 1 in 1500 births have some degree of intersex. That's 0.06% instead of nearly 2%.
Twins is 1 out of 150. The claim that 1 out of 46 births are intersex is crazy.

bullshite…. It is like the percentage of population that is gay…. They make up numbers to try to convince everyone there are more than there actually are…

I work in medical field and have treated tens of thousands of people and I have yet to come across an intersex individual. That 1.7% number is bullshite, lefties change the definitions of words on a whim to fit their narrative. Intersex is a random genetic freak that is rare.

Intersex? Never heard of it. Bottom line these people are a bunch of fricking weirdos and no amount of clever labels or made-up disease states can mask their mental illness and lack of morality.

They're counting the XXY and XYY mutations. Both are men. Usually somewhat taller than average and above average intelligence but possibly some early childhood learning disabilities that straighten themselves out.

True but that community has grown because it became cool to be gay

8 billion people on the Earth. That means 136 million are intersex, which would make it the 10th most populated country on the planet, just behind Russia.

Whatever that is.

I know it’s statistically incredibly unlikely, but I think we have 6-7 of them intersexer mutants among us right here on this very message board

Whatever the actual percentage, no person born a man has ever “transitioned” into a woman. Or vice-versa. Anyone who promotes such an absurd idea is anti-science and frankly insane.

If a study were done of birth records, it would likely be below 1%. Whether it's .000017% or 1.7%, at the end of the day it's still people trying to justify lying to themselves about the truth of their genitals, demanding others join them in that lie and then trying to double-down on that lie by mutilating their genitalia. They then triple-down on this by attempting to push normalization of not just their own dysmorphic condition, but trying to convince others (especially impressionable children) that they too are "born in the wrong body" and should thus join them.
It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. They claim there are tons of people out there who "suffer" from "being born in the wrong body" and then "prove" it by convincing the weak-minded that their lives will somehow magically be better if they claim this victimhood status (and especially if they get mutilative surgeries). They, of course, fight like hell to silence those who end up going through this insanity then regret it.
