Obtaining a passport

My original passport expired a very long time ago (25 + years).
The form that I need to complete, from what I can tell, is DS-11, which I have typed in all my information.
I've tried calling my local post office where I know they process passport applications, however, they do not answer.
My question is, does the US post office process passport applications on Saturday, or is this only done during the weekdays?

In our county (Alabama), the Circuit Clerk’s office handles passports.

Tons of private sector options for expedited passport.
Whatever you do, don’t google. :)

Do you need it done so quickly that you absolutely have to go today or just because you don’t want to take off work on a weekday?
Because if you need it quick then I suggest you find a passport office nearby that does expedited applications.

Too late.
I know I can go to the courthouse in Ascension Parish, but I prefer to try and get this done over the weekend, and not miss work.

I prefer to not have to take off of work to get it done. I will pay for expedited services, but my timeline is not an "emergency."

I would go through a private option then. I live in a major city and I seem to remember the last time the family had to do passport renewals, we did the post office, and we had to go in on a weekday.

I’d rather miss an hour of work than an hour of my weekend

In Jefferson Parish went to the court clerk in the Yenni building and obtained an expedited passport in less than a week. Could not have been easier. Look for something similar in your area.

I had my appointment at USPS on Saturday June 14th and got my passport Wednesday July 8th. Birth certificate was returned a week after passport arrived.

I just renewed mine a few months ago.
Fill out renewal app, print out, attached new passport photo, mailed it in and received new one in less than 30 days.

We went to the Clerk of Court in the old Woman’s Hospital. You pay a convenience fee that can be avoided at the post office.
Non-expedited took under 4 weeks. M-F. They don’t take them after 2 pm because they want to get it in the mail that afternoon.
You have to sign in front of them for long expired renewals. So it should be done in person, according to the rules and not by mail. Maybe things have changed?

Clerk of court.
A smile and a little face to face goes a long way.
Your problem will be handled

I'm pretty sure you can do the whole thing by mail. You can pay extra for expedited service, which in my case, got mine to me in under a month.

If you are close to New Orleans you can get it same day in about 6 hours.. did my daughters there and it was pretty painless if expedition is a desire

Depends on the post office, we have had issues with the post office by our house.
Found out the one in Gretna off Belle Chasse Hwy is great at issuing passports. The issue is word got out and lot of people go there so you either have to make an appointment or get there early because there is a cut off number.

My last renewal I did completely online, even down to taking a selfie with my iPhone for the picture.
It was to renew one that was expiring soon, though, and I have had one constantly for over 30 years. May not be an option when you don’t have a current one.

A year ago I needed to replace my fifth passport. The most effective approach is to go to the .gov official site and apply. Forms are filled out on line and hard copies are printed for mailed application, include your check for payment.
There are many , many fraud on line apt services that will cost you 100 dollars apt fees, but most important..........you lose control of the filing and the prompt delivery from .gov. Your int'l airline flight will leave weeks before your new passport arrives
"""just noticed that you intend to travel next week". And that can be done. But you will need a concierge visa handler. 500 bucks. and it is sleazy folks to deal with. Time is not on your side

If it’s gotta be quick, New Orleans has a passport office. Why the capital of a State doesn’t have one is stupid. ie: Baton Rouge
