Still a big question in my mind. Can we contain and limit damage from the running QBs that we’ll face? I have nightmares about what LaNorris Sellers is capable of doing to us lol. What’s gonna be different this year. Better overall scheme? Are our DBs good enough to where we can dedicate more people to stopping them? Can we use Perk effectively for this? I hope we improve in this area. I feel good about a lot of other aspects of our team.

It’s not a matter of scheme, it’s discipline.

Whit Weeks is awesome. Whit Weeks also plays extremely undisciplined at times and gets out of position. Swinson was guilty of this at time last year too. Add in terrible angles and tackling from the safeties last year, short gains turned into moderate gains, and moderate turned into big.

It’s not as glamorous to fill your hole and just eat up a blocker, but the game is about blocking and tackling my brother

I think what scares people on sellers is the Clemson game he had. But Clemson lbs were absolute arse in a glass. It was the weakness of their defense. You gotta hope Perk and Whit can contain him which I think they have a better chance of than most lbs

after losing two games in one season because of a particular offensive gameplan , the coaches will have spent a lot of time on this in their preparation for this season.
it will be emphasized in camp and we will have a better plan this season.

they just have to execute the plan

Perhaps it is also what he did to LSU before hurting his ankle.

This. Simply comes down to doing your job. Don’t try to be a superhero play assignment sound football, make your tackles in space. We have the athletes to limit a mobile qb if everyone plays their role and does their jobs

its gonna be hard to pull that off 2 years in a row. Now that everyone knows it's coming and is effective. I see home being KJ Jefferson 2.0

I think running the ball is bigger determining factor in wins.

Really bad safety play hurt us last year in this regard at times.

Put Perkins in there as well.

Saban said about a freshman that he had to play "once he figures out what we are doing out there he may be pretty good".

Great description of Perkins.

Yea. A lot of bad angles and poor tackling from many on the defense

We have grown men on the edges now. We've missed those for a while. Some things that hurts us won't anymore.

Do you remember the way he played against us?

I would agree w/you, but with the speed we have on defense, God help the running QB.

Weeks, Perk, DBs, we'll be alright, not to mention our Dline.

People don't realize how big of a deal losing guillory was Las season. He was legitimately our only SEC caliber/ready DT. We were essentially unable to stop runs up the middle against SEC teams without significant help from the linebackers and scheme especially against qbs who were running threats. Once a&m exposed this weakness teams were forcing us to commit to stop the run up the middle then stretching us sideline to sideline as well as opening easy completions in the vacated space in the middle of the field. Our DLine simply didn't have the bodies last year to effectively deal with this and took away help our already less than stellar secondary could have use
