I don't think this is working out for this family as they expected.

Is learning about lesbians from another girl in school enough of a reason to move to Russia?? I don't personally have a problem with lesbians in general, just seems extreme to me.
What say the OT, is the US so woke that moving to Russia is the answer?

Seems extremely short-sighted for an "anti-woke" person to move to a country with command and control style government. I can truly say I know very little about Russian politics or government other than they seem very controlling and corrupt.
He obviously is blinded by his hatred for differing lifestyles so much that he will now likely die fighting for Russia!

It’s unfortunate, but the article states that he joined the military believing he would serve in a non-combat role. It also mentions that he is "near" the front line. Yahoo may be somewhat misleading.
