I would not be asking this if it had not happened to me twice in the last two months.
Two different times, at two different grocery stores, both with very tight parking spots, I’ve gone to my truck to leave and, due purely to the I’ll designed parking lot and its tightness, my truck door has touched (not slammed) the car next to me while I was getting in. All four of my trucks doors have protectors on them. So it simply touches the other car. It doesn’t scratch and it most certainly doesn’t dent. Both times, a 35-45 yo Karen has opened their door and yelled at me through the window that I “hit their car”! One called me an a-hole. Both women seemed to just be sitting in their cars on their iPhone.
Both instances I roll down my window, say I’m sorry, and then say my door has protecters. I then say have a nice day. I drive off, not wanting to be around this mental illness anymore. One lady looked like she was taking a pic of my license plate. But nothing has come of it. Just curious if this has happened to anyone else. Are Karen’s just sitting there looking for something bad to happen?

Step 1: Lose weight

Step 2: Park further away if your truck doesn't fit it the spot (this will help with step 1)

Why are there so many people randomly sitting in their cars in parking lots these days? Seems like every time I go to Rousse's, there are at least 5 cars with people simply sitting in them. They're there when I park, and still there when I leave 30 minutes later.

Subtle brag that you drive a big truck.

Did this happen in the LP?

Keep your truck doors to yourself. You have zero rights to touch, hit, or come in contact in any way with Karen's Mazda3.

Park further out if the lot is not designed for your vehicle.

I always park WAAAYY away from people and thanks for using protection !

I am thankful for those who are careful, and who teach their kids to be careful, but many people just open doors into other car doors...sometimes doing great damage.

There are Karen's everywhere, but door dings suck!

Possible it's a legitimate issue rather than a "Karen" issue on this one.

You are either fat or are not good at parking.

ETA: if your truck is too big to fit into a normal parking space without touching another vehicle when you get in/out, then you need to park farther away so that you aren't near any other vehicles.

You chose to buy a “big” truck so you pay the price of parking further away. It’s like idiots in super long trucks parking in spots in parking lot or garage where half the way is blocked because their truck doesn’t fit.

You are the problem, not the “Karens”.

Put your finger on the edge of your door and open slowly. Then let it touch.

Clearly they’re hearing a loud sound in the car, so you’re opening it hard.

Park further out where possible.

While the design of parking spots are not your fault, it's your responsibility to not hit other cars.

If my car is “touched” I’ll say something. MAJOR pet peeve of mine. Like someone said, if you understand your baw truck is too big, park farther out.

"I often hit people's parked cars with my door, I just can't understand that there are so many jerks in the world that I frequently have something negative said to me. Don't they understand that I have protectors that keep these dings from hurting my own precious door?"

This isn't going to go the way you had envisioned.

For all they know you dented their door as their first reaction and then you come off as smug "like don't act all hysterical, its fine" and then drive away. So sure its probably a little off-putting to the other cars owners.
