I find this shockingly low. Apparently that’s about what other foreign automakers are paying in Mexico as well. Does this surprise you as well?

No wonder they were building so many plants in Mexico. Hopefully Trump can turn the tide on this trend!

Everything is relative. Good pay in Louisiana doesn't cut it in California either

Based off a shitty country comparison site I found, Mexico has about 1/6 of the GDP per capita of the US, so making 1/6 of $18/hr (guessing that's about entry level wages for factory work nowadays) comes out about right with PPP.

Yea, people don’t understand that cost of living varies widely.

$3 in Mexico does not equal $3 where they live.

Not surprised at all. Only thing surprising is that there are any car manufacturers left in this country at all.

Well, at least they work, and not in some useless union that overpays, and protects POS workers who do nothing . Why would anyone expect any different?

Ross Perot explained this in the 90’s

That Giant Sucking Sound

You shift your manufacturing to Mexico, pay $1.50 an hour, no healthcare, no retirement, and no environmental regulations.
