Honestly, yes it does. This team can quickly turn to sell mode and get rid of guys like Zion/Herb at deadline if things go south and now have the ability to free up room in summer and build around Fears/Queen/Maybe Trey?

We are not in a terrible spot at the moment. Many directions this thing can go. Only issue is Weaver/Dumars in the drivers seat...

Yeah. A good bit better.

I still think it's a gross overpay for a guy who's likely not going to play much b/c he's not a good basketball player.

It was helpful to hear all the good stuff about him being a lockerroom guy. That's what I wanted to do back when we drafted Jaxson Hayes and to overpay for Al Horford simply to help him develop. Hopefully Looney can be that guy for Queen.

I would have rathered given $8m/yr to Mo Wagner, who signed for 1/$5M back with Orlando.

He's a 10-15 mpg big on most nights like most guys in his price range this summer. People really have unrealistic expectations about what he's brought in to provide here.

It also gives us a decent sized tradable contract for the deadline.

We essentially will have our (3) worst contracts on short expiring contracts with Jose/ Hawk/ Looney for a combined $17mil. It gives us some space and moves to work with if we find a specific need through the season.

I love how you continually try to shite on Jose.
You do realize you're the only one that feels this way?

Jose is not a tradeable contract. He's a player who's contract is undervalued for what he does. and no i'm not saying we couldn't get a better backup PG, but when you get the production you get from Jose, a backup PG making $4.5M, consider yourself in a good position for the next 2 years and look to spend that money on other needs, LIKE A frickING BIG WHO CAN SHOOT A frickING 3 WHICH WE HAVEN"T HAD SINCE WE DRAFTED ZION 6 YEARS AGO.

What Dumars has done is engineer a roster for a soft rebuild, with the option to dump Zion and do a hard rebuild next year if it doesn't work out.

If Zion is hurt and we suck again this year, then we will be trading Zion, and we will have at least one first round pick. So those of you who have been worried that we might suck and then not be able to start the rebuild aren't thinking about it the way Dumars is.

3 1-year contracts that combined are 11% of the cap are not bad contracts in the least.

Oh wow this is weird.... I meant "worst" very clearly as our cheapest and most easily replaceable assets.... Compared to if we were to move Trey, Herb, Zion, Murray at 30mil, etccc.

Does it really matter? I could have replaced "worst" with "most useless" and people would still be upset that I made an obvious and correct comment that Jose Alvarado is an end of the bench player in the NBA. If you rank NBA assets as a whole he is bottom half of all teams rosters. This again has absolutely nothing to do with disliking Jose and everything to do with facts. Sorry that hurts your feelings bro.

Murray/ Fears
Poole/ Herb
Trey/ Bey
Zion/ Queen
Missi/ Looney

Hawk
Karlo
Jose
Peavy

Crazy how you can make our top 10 lineup and wouldn't know Jose is on the team... Furthermore the (3) of Karlo, Hawk, and Peavy are all like 3-4 years younger and legit have more potential as a whole. So yes he actually is our worst asset with regards to Hawk having potential.

I'm fine getting in arguments to prove points but this is just an obvious factual thing that is being way overblown by people being emotional pussies.

Jose IS one of the worst players on our team, that's not a stab its just the fricking truth. Get over it bro.

The fact that it means so much to some of you to argue the importance of our 13th best player on a garbage franchise is EXACTLY why we are a garbage franchise.

Has Jose won us a championship? Has he provided something for you personally? Does he babysit for you? None of those? Cool then why the frick do you care? Its a business and our only loyalty should be towards the team and winning.

Jose is a great dude, solid player for his size, and brings great energy. And at the end of the day his only worth to this team is his $5mil salary to use on someone else.

You seem upset I put Jose in a category with Hawk and Looney. What other player category is he closer to? Herb/ Zion/ Trey? LOL. Queen/ Fears? Yeah right dude..use your brain instead of emotions for a second and you might realize how stupid you sound.

We actually could have taken on Horford and got assets to do so at that time.

Makes me feel much better. 8 is still a big overpay, but it’s only for one year and fills a hole. So I feel much better now about it now.
