I’m guessing they were trying to have higher taxes on imports from red states as a form of “punishment”

If what I’ve read about Canada’s new PM and his globalist/deep state association is true, Trump should tread carefully. He’s a bigger snake than one might estimate.

Well it was on tv and I caught the tail end of the story. I’m literally waiting on a phone call right now and then I have to leave so I really can’t get to involved in looking at it.

In unrelated news, it was reported earlier today that their GDP declined in April and is expected to show similar drop in the May numbers. I wonder why.
We should just slap a 50% tariff on them and call it a day, their country will collapse before DJT's term is up.

Without US trade, the Canadian economy ceases to exist.
Trump will soon propose to end the USMCA , a tri-lateral agreement.
In the near future, we will have separate bilateral agreements with Canada and Mexico respectively, which makes much better sense because they are both very different types of economies.
The entire Canadian economy depends on China. And they are politically controlled by China. They import parts from China, assemble them into finished goods, then slide them into the US.

It's not even just the trade.
They are the equivalent of a child living in the garage apartment with the parents watching out for them and making sure they are safe and provide then with an allowance (the sweet trade deal) and they are bitching about having to get a real job.
I wish we could drop the whole country between the middle east and China and let them learn a few lessons.

The other issue is that the cartels are now shifting production into Canada due to the open border, feckless police and general lack of concern of the government.
