Looking for a good WW2 single player

Anyone tried out Brothers in Arms or Brass Brigade? both run about $20(BiA is a 3 pack combo) and have very favorable reviews on steam. I played all of the old Call of Duty games.

I remember enjoying Road to Hill 30 and Earned in Blood. It had a interesting take cover, suppress, and flank system. When the series went to the 360/PS3 generation ..IDK what happened but I thought it played terribly. I also enjoyed the late 90's early 2000's Medal of Honors and the Sniper Élite series.

Can't vouch for those but if you are a RTS fan Company of Heroes is very good

Wolfenstein New Order or Wolfenstein II New Colossus

So you did play Call of Duty WWII ?
I thought it was pretty good.

Road to Hill 30 was great. Good story and the maps were generated from real life

Brothers in Arms is great, although it is more "realistic" than a lot of WW2 shooters. As mentioned, it uses a suppression system that makes it harder to directly kill guys but is also closer to real-life tactics.
Brass Brigade is more "arcadey" but is very fun and covers tons of different battles.
Another one you may not have heard of is Easy Red & Easy Red 2. These two games are relatively cheap but a lot of fun! Sort of a more "realistic" Brass Brigade!

I remember when it was as fun to play through the CoD campaigns as it was to do the MP. CoD 2 & 3 were a great time. Played a lot of Medal of Honor as well.
I imagine finding a more modern WWII single player game is a lot more challenging when everything has to be multiplayer.

Yeah it sucks trying to find good military shooter solo games because everything goes towards MP or BRs.
Thanks for all the recommendations. I’m definitely looking for some realism from the game(as in historical realism…not arma realism).
The game recommended earlier that has realistic maps based on actual places definitely intrigues me.

The Medal of Honor games were good to a certain point.

I ended up getting the Easy Red full bundle for like $40. It seems fun but I feel like I end up just getting sucked into the COD style of just abandoning strategy and worrying about shooting everything. I do like how you can play as a tank and airplane as well as play different roles in fire teams. I just wish they put a little more into the cut scene infographics about the battles.

It's 20 years old now but COD2 is still fun to play.

I don't really know how far back you want to go but Brothers in Arms is a good series. The first two are essentially PS2 games ported to PC though. The last game in the series may be a bit more modern.
Medal of Honor Allied Assault is old, but also pretty good.
CoD 1-3, World at War and WW2 are all good choices. Technically Vanguard is set during WW2, but I wouldn't call it a WW2 shooter by any stretch.
There's a game called Enemy Front that released in 20214 that I really enjoyed. It's made by the same developers who make the Sniper Ghost Warrior games (not Sniper Elite). This game is literally $2.00 on Steam right now
For a bit of different flavor, essentially any of the Sniper Elite games would be good as well.

A couple of recs from my library, but apologize if any have already been covered:
- Easy Red 2 (if you ever played BF1942, this game is a spiritual successor)
- Hidden & Dangerous 2 (older game, but an awesome tactical sandbox following British paras)
- Armoured Commander 2 (tank-sim/rogue-like with pixel graphics that may be one of the deepest tank sims ever created)
- Beach Invasion 1944 (arcade wave shooter that is great to burn a few hours)
- Battlestations: Midway (fun arcade flyer/shooter in the Pacific)
- Gates of Hell: Ostfront (arguably the best WW2 RTS out there)
- Classified: France 1944 (XCOM-style tactical turn-based strategy)
- Combat Mission series (deep, slow-paced real-time tactics with insanely simulated battles)
- IL2 Sturmovik (arguably best WW2 flight sim for the money)
- Mud and Blood (Flash-style top-down tactics with a brutal reputation)
- Partisans 1941 (highly underrated stealth/real-time tactics)
- Return to Castle Wolfenstein (or any of the new Wolfenstein games except YoungBlood)
- Sniper Elite series (stealth-action shooter)
- Steel Division 2 (a bit more multiplayer focused, but a great and beautiful RTS)
- The Troop (well-polished, indie, turn-based tactics game that just received a USA-focused update)
- UBOAT or the Silent Hunter series (deeply detailed sub sims)
- Hearts of Iron 4/Gary Grigsby’s War in the East 2 (grognard grand strategy WW2 titles)
- Hex of Steel/Unity of Command 2/Strategic Command (hex-based grand strategy)
Tried to give you a mix of everything, but as you can tell, I’m a big RTS/RTT guy. Hope this helps

What are you playing? Which maps? I’m still playing single player skirmish modes - I’ve downloaded a bunch of new maps but have noticed that only a handful of them play properly. Sometimes I’ll set up a game vs ‘expert computer players’ and they won’t really build anything nor will they attack
FWIW I’ve been playing the Europe at War expansion. The modern combat one is pretty cool as well with USA/China

Call of duty 2? Is great as well as cod world at war
I still go back and play their campaigns, absolutely too notch gaming and campaign. Best of the cod series, with. Mw2. A far 3rd

Was coming to say this. It's 20+ years old so it may not hold up well, but the Medal of Honor: Frontline game was badass. Loads of fun, especially storming the beach.
