Good riddance. That entire stretch looks like Hooker Row

No, not at all. Prime real estate and cannot be replaced. Been through imminent domain bullshite. Fair market value based mostly on comps and actual improvements.

No. My great grandparents got caught up in one of the previous expansions and while not an unfair offer, it wasn’t lucrative.

Don't care. Build the damn bridge. They will be compensated unless they overplay their hand

I hope the new bridge doesn’t have a sharp curve in it to miss the refineries in Westlake.

They will make bank. It is not the same as the 60s. I just had a project delayed due to row cost in a small town in Louisiana. These businesses will be fine.

Prime real estate? Who the frick along that row where Steamboat Bills is located is really capitalizing on that “prime real estate”? It’s a quarter mile of trash.

They are about to get the best offer anyone has ever made for that land.

The owners will have no leverage. How are they going to stay in business once there are no roads leading to their property?

Eminent domain. Even it it appears imminent.

The party expropriating will have experts providing FMV opinions. The landowners can retain their own FMV experts.

The landowners will be fairly compensated, but they won't make "bank" if I understand what is meant by that term.

I may be unfair to some people but no matter what, at some point, there really isn’t a choice.

Improvements have to be made because the interstate has been a dumpster fire for years. It may not be a perfect decision but ultimately some people were gonna get screwed over it.

Lake Charles will never be the same once the Oasis motel closes down.

Way too expensive for what it is. Priced to catch that I-10 traffic.

There's a Steamboat Bill's outside Houston, I wonder if it's as good as the OG.

You clearly don’t know how eminent domain works.

They should get fair market value. Which is fair. But likely won’t be what it is truly worth.

No, it generally doesn’t work out well for the property owner when they are forced to sell their property.

They won’t get a crazy price. DOTD appraisers will likely go out and set a value on the property that matches the area.
