First 3 episodes are now streaming. Some Ted Lasso vibes but not quite as cheesy.

Thanks for the reminder. There’s not much that I don’t like with Owen Wilson.

We all know that Custer died at Little Big Horn. What this book pre-supposes is, maybe he didn't?

The opening scene in Episode 1 is pretty funny.

I only made it through first episode last night but enjoyed it. Kinda a cross between Ted Lasso and Happy Gilmore and Tin Cup.

Been looking forward to this. Seems like it will be more of a feel good comedy than I was hoping with something like Tin Cup or Happy Gilmore but we'll see.

They timed the release well for the middle of the golf season.

I plan on watching this, but this is one that I wish would've been a movie instead of a season-long show.

We just finished the first episode and that’s a perfect comparison. Apple continues to put out quality shows.

Finished the first 2 episodes after work. Fun to watch the banter between Owen Wilson and Marc Maron.

Great show so far. If you have ever caddied for your son in a golf tournament, episode 3 is probably the most realistic episode in the history of television.

Watched all three last night. Love it.

My only grips is how fake the golf shots look sometimes. I get that you have to use CGI for it, but man it just feels like lazy CGI from like 20 years ago with someone tracing the ball straight to the hole.

Also, for whatever reason, the bartender chick looks like 10 years older than Santi does.

Wilson is really good in this. I really like the dynamic with his ex-wife. And Marc Maron is great as usual. I assume he and the mom will hook up at some point.

if I was Stick, when he made the deal with the mom, she laid out her terms and he said "Deal.' And THEN she goes "And you'll give me $100k." I'd have been like WTF we just made the deal, you can't tack on an extra $100k on top of that. But I guess that's how confident he was in Santi's game.

8-under on the back nine is more than impressive.

I assume the season will end with him making the tour. Interested to see how they get there. Really digging it so far.

Yeah the 100k development deal seemed a little over the top. Especially considering the mom's job. Someone with that job wouldve been over the moon with 10k or 20k.

Ah well, we're all really just here for Owen and Maron anyway

Ciao

Great show so far but I’m concerned about how the story will sustain a series. I agree with whoever said this could have been a great movie.

They’re really going to have to develop quality side plots because the dynamic between Stick and Santi / the ups and downs of tournament golf are going to get stale pretty quickly.

Finally started this last night. I'm a big golfer so have been looking forward to this one.

Only watched the first episode but just a few initial thoughts...

It's pretty cheesy, but not really in a bad way. Happy Gilmore was cheesy, but it worked. Pryce noticing the kid was taken straight from Happy Gilmore's book when Chubbs noticed Happy and the kid hitting the miracle shot around the trees was taken straight from Tin Cups book when Roy hit the bird off it's perch from inside the clubhouse. I get that it looks pretty dumb and out of date, but I actually like the way they tracked the ball around the trees into the dumpster, almost exactly the same way they tracked Happy's drives in HG.

The only thing I didn't like was the 100k proposal, which was absolutely insane considering expenses were already being covered and you just found out one day ago that this guy wanted to coach your son. Golfers pay coaches, not the other way around, much less some astronomical amount for a kid going to be playing in amateur matches. Him being all in with it after seeing the kid hit 4 balls on the range was a bit ridiculous too. Let me put my entire life on the line for a kid that I don't even know if he can putt. I get it's the same as Chubbs and Happy but to an extreme degree, but it's supposed to be real life and it just felt like a very fake story.

Hoping that 5 episodes in Pryce doesn't hook up/start falling in love with the mom and we get a cliche "You're not doing this to help me you're doing this to get with my mom" moment with the son.

The last scene tore at the heart strings a little bit though. Very short scene but was actually kind of touching. I'm guessing the kid got cancer or a brain tumor or something, he didn't look like he was all there in the last scene with him at the birthday party.

The only plot I like is the guy driving the RV and the mom. Owen Wilson is just too Owen Wilson for me, and the Santi kid is just kinda a jerk.

I haven't looked up who is is if maybe he's actually a good golfer, but the kid actually has a pretty good golf swing. It might be AI for all I know but he's got a hell of a follow through.

I really like Owen Wilson, but he just doesn’t feel like the right actor for this role.

His swing is AI for sure. And the way that episode 3 brought the tranny in and all of a sudden he played amazing is ridiculous
