Pirates lost 3-0 with Skenes giving up a single earned run over 8 innings, striking out 8, and walking just a single batter.
ERA falls to 2.05

And barring some miracle, the poor bastard is stuck there for the foreseeable future.

This is a worse situation than when Degrom went 9-10 with a 1.90 era with the Mets. Get Skenes out of Pittsburgh!

Or when Felix Hernandez won the Cy Young with a 2.27 and barely squeaked out a winning record at 13-12. I have no idea how he put up with the Mariners for that long.

I backed up the truck on Skenes CY bet. Even money against the field, with mostly just Yamamoto as a threat.

If the Pirates have any sense they’re flipping him before the 2029 deadline
I can get Trout at least being ok with settling in LA. Pitt? He gone

Has a pitcher with a losing record ever won the Cy Young?

it's brutal
my, "I feel for Paul" thread was to the point. His team has ZERO ambitions to win, and he goes out giving them everything, every 5th day.

It’s like watching Felix Hernandez in his prime with those god awful mariners teams.

I know the Tigers were trying to put together a trade for him prior to the deadline but the Pirates apparently aren't interested
Skenes + Skubal together would be dynamic

that's false ... the team is playing hard and much better of late. But they did lay an egg last night of course, but have been competing against good teams recently (brewers and padres)
The front office / ownership is the less ambitious entity

I know it’s a cliche’ statement but the Pirates probably have the worst owner in professional sports.

My thoughts last night
"shame he’s with that organization but overall, he’s winning at life. He’ll be ok."
