New contract, new money, new QB. He's got the measurables to be an impact player, and he looks like a giant next to our munchkin WR room. Young QB's sometimes lean on their bigger targets, we will see what he can do this year. I have a feeling he has a break out year.

Probably not. He has disappointed the last few years when we desperately needed a big bodied receiver to step up.

He has been disappointing but there were definitely bright spots where he showed he could make plays. We just need some consistency out of him and for him to stay healthy.

Would like to see him get more yards after the catch.

In his 4 years he's averaged just 11.1 yards per reception.

He’s a solid #2 tight end. Nothing more. Hopefully we can upgrade that in the near future but, the expectations should be kept at a minimum

Why does it always feel like Juwan is turned around backwards catching balls behind him, and then just kinda hunkers down waiting to get smashed in the back by a safety?

Easy to blame Carr or Rattler, but sometimes when the ball is perfectly placed he still tries to "box out" a defender with his body when it seems completely unnecessary..

Johnson is what he is.

And what he is is not a #1 TE.

He has some receiving talent but lack consistency. His blocking has improved but is still subpar to be an every down TE unless injuries force him to be. and if you want to know how that will work out, look through the 24-25 season game film. A few good plays mixed in with an over all underwhelming performance. He's a 2 or a 3 TE on any team with a legit #1 TE.

No, he’s the best TE we have on the worst TE room in the NFL.

YAC's are almost NIL with him....goes down fast with the very first contact, no matter how minimal...almostn as if that's his 'game-plan" OR to avoid hard contact injuries while looking for extra yards ! Very fruatrating to watch given his relative size !

Turn the corner how? He's always been inconsistent. That won't change. I say no.

Seems the new staff likes him. He's shown glimpses then drops it. Man someone needs to step up in that room.

He had the 15th most yards among TEs last year and he’s the 12th highest paid in AAV.

He’s pretty good. That’s it.

He's only as good as the coaches allow him to be. We had a shitshow for coaching last year.
This same scenario holds true for Rattler. He's going to impress a lot of people if he gets a team around him.

I agree with that totally. The coaching showed up sparingly after DA was fired.

And it was most certainly shite by the time he was fired.

As much as we jump on players a lot of time it could be from not enough coaching. Or the coaches just have to work with what we have, It's hard to say and easy to talk about when it isn't our jobs on the line.

But nonetheless coaching matters so damn much.

How did coaching hold back Juwan Johnson, I gotta know. TEs have never had a problem in a Shannahan system

Did Sean Payton hold him back?

2020 Johnson in 7 games went 4 catches for 39 yards and no TD's

2021 Johnson in 14 games went 13 catches for 159 and 4 TD's

pisses me off further that Johnson was rewarded with a new deal. It's probably character related as well.

Loomis has gotten so far carried away with that angle lately he forgets that pure talent is more consistently a winner in this league.

Y’all do realize Loomis made him one of the top 12 highest paid tight ends in the league right?

Some of yall saying he’s a number two or three tight end when he’s being paid top #1 te tier money is pretty funny.

And he’s consistently rated one of the worse blocking tight ends in the league.

Doesn’t change the statement above. Another thing he isn’t being paid as a top tier tight end. Not sure what your definition of top tier is but top 12 isn’t some sort of top paid tight end. They obviously believe in him. Also, i honestly am not overly concerned with his blocking. What makes a tight end elite inter blocking. Kelce can’t block a mosquito. Johnson imo just isn’t a really good tight end. His tape screams that.
