GATLINBURG, Tenn. — Authorities responded to a multi-vehicle crash in the downtown Gatlinburg area on Sunday. The Gatlinburg Police Department said a total of six people were taken to a hospital.
A spokesperson for GPD said it, along with fire departments and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, responded to the crash. The spokesperson said it happened around 4:14 p.m. in the 700 block of Parkway, between traffic lights No. 6 and No. 8

They're saying medical emergency caused it. I read a driver had a seizure and hit the gas pedal. Driver was traveling close to 100 mph when he hit multiple vehicles.

In Gatlinburg? Never seen a speed higher than 2mph there

There should be safety features developed to alleviate these events.
ETA: the rain of downvotes...
You don't think a some sensors and systems for someone with seizures or other issues would be wise?
Something to realize the vehicle is out of control and possibly save the driver and other's lives?
I don't mean in every car but something available to at risk people might be nice.

Traffic in Gatlinburg is obscene.

At least it wasn’t Gatlinburg in mid-July

How could someone have a seizure and reach 100mph before hitting something? 100 mph would be very doubtful.

How not? Grand mal seizure with convulsions and his foot was on the gas pedal.

You ever been to Gatlinburg on the weekend? I would think he would hit another car before he could get anywhere close to 100mph unless of course he was in a Tesla.

I went right as Covid was hitting but before mandates and shutdowns had started. It was glorious!

OT is fine with this as long as he was in the left lane

I know a girl who looks very similar to that new girl.

If you ever have that first seizure, especially if you're behind the wheel when it happens, good luck getting your license back.

People have different types of seizures. This person didn't go into a shaking seizure, they went into full muscle lock while their foot was on the gas,
They put the pedal to the floor.

Dick move. Just because you have a seizure doesn’t mean you get to cause an accident.

Full self driving would do it

Cars with hands free driving, like Ford's Blue Cruise, track eyes. A technology mandate by the States for people with a seizure diagnosis, isn't a terrible idea. I've known two other incidents in TN that were fatal from a person having a seizure. Both previously had been diagnosed and taking medicine for it.
