Pyongyang called it "a serious accident" during Wednesday's ceremony, crushing parts of the vessel's hull

North Korea has detained another official
Ri Hyong Son, vice department director of the Munitions Industry Department of the Party Central Committee, was summoned and detained Sunday
Ri is the fourth person reportedly detained in connection with the accident, following the detention of three individuals over the weekend, including the chief engineer at the shipyard.
shipyard manager Hong Kil Ho had been summoned by law enforcement.

Seoul's military has said the Choe Hyon could have been developed with Russian help, possibly in exchange for Pyongyang deploying thousands of troops to help Moscow fight Ukraine.

That word has a different meaning when translated into the Korean dialect of the North.

If I had been one of those chaps, I would have made a serious effort to get the frick out of dodge, may have died trying, but better than being a sitting duck.

Was the severe weather in the map link the cause of the boats launch issues?

Sorry about that link

LINK

was what I intended to copy

From an older story about the sinking
quote:

Ahn Chan-il, a defector-turned-researcher who runs the World Institute for North Korea Studies, said the newly built warship may also have been constructed with Russian assistance.

Chongjin, the North Korean city where the launch ceremony was held, is conveniently close to Russia's Vladivostok port, he noted.

"It's also likely that the projected timeline for the vessel -- including when assembly would be completed and the ship launched -- was shared with the Russian side," he told AFP.

"It appears the dock was hastily constructed, and multiple issues may have arisen during the shipbuilding process.

"With today's announcement, Pyongyang seems to be signalling not only to its own people

That was my first thought but if you do that, they probably come after your entire family and friends. This shows the others in NK that if you think you can cheat the regime, they will get their piece one way or the other.

If there is one things the Russians have always been known for, it’s their naval prowess. Did North Korea take a look at how well the Admiral Kuznestov has been doing in Russian dry dock and decide they were a good partner? Or maybe it was how well the Moscow did for 12 hours after the Ukies hit it before joining the rest of the Black Sea fleet at the bottom of the ocean. I for one am shocked that a proud naval power like Russia would design a ship that immediately flips once it leave the shipyard.
