quote:

The independent solar models of climate change—which did not include a variable representing the IPCC postulated anthropogenic influence—do have predictive validity. The models reduced errors of forecasts for the years 2000 to 2018 relative to the benchmark errors for all, and all but one of 101 estimation samples tested for each of the two models. One of the models (B2000 Solar) reduced errors by more than 75 percent for forecasts from models estimated from 35 of the samples—a particularly impressive improvement given that the benchmark errors were no greater than 1 °C for all but one of the estimation samples. The independent solar models provide realistic representations of the causal relationships with surface temperatures. The question of whether the independent solar variables can be forecast with sufficient accuracy to improve on the benchmark model forecasts in practice, however, remains relevant. All in all, and contra to the IPCC reports, there is insufficient evidential basis for the use of carbon dioxide, et cetera, emissions—taken together, the IPCC’s Anthro—as climate policy variables.

TL:DR - the IPCC climate model used as basis for UN policies is hot garbage (statistically speaking). Even when compared to other, independent, models.

Well I am shocked. SHOCKED I TELL YOU!!!!!

I'm not shocked. The idea that a model can accurately forecast a complex multivariate system a century into the future has always been ridiculous on its face.

I was promised hail on Tuesday thanks to detailed analysis of the clouds, temps, wind and rain by 5,000 different sensors on the ground and in the air hours before it hit.

I got none.

I told that to a liberal acquaintance when they got on about only 12 years left til were all dead.

You’d have thought I lit him on fire based on the reaction.

I was, too. I got quarter sized, and less than ten miles north of me got baseballs. A few miles up the road got a tornado.

I guess we are at an impasse.

It’s all bullshite.

bullshite in = bullshite out

We are about inject CO2 into the ground to sell tax credits that we all will pay for.

I wish they would just give the tax credits instead of literally blowing smoke up our asses.

As countless doomsday events never came to fruition over the decades, the standard response from Trust the Science bros has been that the models or calculations were just a little off.

But you need to believe that the models and calculations are correct now. We only have 10 years until the point of no return. For real this time.

The fundamental problem with these models is climate scientist rely mostly on measured data (which has error) and statistics and less on the properties of matter.

In the physics and engineering world (applied physics) we rely on the properties of matter.

In short:

Climate scientist: measured data > make predictions.

Physicists and engineers: properties of matter > make predictions.

This is why we see many physicists and engineers depart with climate science conclusions.

With that said, as an engineer dealing with properties of matter this is how I would make this prediction:

It’s too late. These models have been getting roundly debunked for decades already.

It’s become their religion, so they’ll keep crippling their own economies in the name of mother Gaia

It’s actually much worse than that. They basically used no margin of error basically implying the model was perfect. Complete statistical figotry.

Wouldn't 'statistician' be more appropriate? It's like being called an IT engineer when all you do is deal with password resets.

We
all
know
this
already.

Now we're waiting for the Jake Tapper exposé, tell-all, where he explains how he was lied to by his government overlords.
