Did players in the 80's 90's palm/carry the ball as much as they do now?

Without being called? I mean basically every player does it with the hesitation dribble move they couldnt possibly call it or it would be constant. But i dont remember that being such a prominent move back then but maybe it was cause noone complains about it

They have whored out the game for highlights. Makes for great 10 second clips when someone fakes out a defender by carrying the ball then restarting their dribble.

No, they also didn’t walk constantly. Now we don’t even enforce the pivot foot. You can now come to a complete stop, pivot on one foot and if nothing is there you can just take another step with the opposite foot. There really aren’t any rules in today’s game, the refs only enforce them when they feel like it. It’s sad really, takes away from the game in a major way.

It’s cartoonish, makes the players look stupid and the game look like a joke.

Because he watched Danny Ainge and Dennis Johnson dribble the ball during that time...and they dribbled like Bob Cousey.... : lol: No palming, no carrying, patty-cake up and down.

Magic got away with carrying the ball.
MJ’s inside out dribble move was carrying a lot of times.
I know Iverson carried the ball

I think it seems like more because more players are dribbling and trying to break down the defense. It used to be mostly guards dribbling. Now a lot of forwards and even centers try to dribble penetrate

Correctly enforcing carrying would probably change the league more than anything else. Kevin Durant made a career out of carrying.

NBA needs to change to NDA, no defense association.

The LeBron one is especially egregious.
