When mom isn't around to microwave your tendies anymore, and you discover that in real life not everyone gets a trophy.

quote:

After complaining for the better part of two years that Gen Z grads are difficult to work with, bosses are no longer all talk, no action: Now they’re rapidly firing young workers who aren’t up to scratch just months after hiring them

According to a report, six in 10 employers say they have already sacked some of the Gen Z workers they hired fresh out of college in recent months.

Intelligent.com, a platform dedicated to helping young professionals navigate the future of work, surveyed nearly 1,000 U.S. leaders. It found that the class of 2024’s shortcomings will impact future grads.

After experiencing a raft of problems with young new hires, one in six bosses say they’re hesitant to hire recent college grads again.

Meanwhile, one in seven bosses have admitted that they may avoid hiring them altogether next year.

Three-quarters of the companies surveyed said some or all of their recent graduate hires were unsatisfactory in some way.
.

You can probably guess the reasons… punctuality, dress, language in the office, work ethic, etc.

Expects a 3000 sq foot house 10 minutes from a major city, but can’t hold a job for more than a few months.

Because you have to put in time and have experience to get certain level of pay.

Expecting to come out of college and thing you should be paid $150,000 plus like some 40-60 year old that has 20+ years of job and life experience

Now more than half of hiring managers have come to the conclusion that college grads are unprepared for the world of work.

In reality, colleges know that their students are wholly unprepared for the workforce
So, what is the point of college then?

What purpose does the time and debt serve?

It doesn't help that the market is soft. Companies are cutting people like crazy, especially in consulting. If people don't want to work with you and you're on the bench, goodbye.

I think the disservice was telling people they're important and special.

You're not fricking special and no one cares about your opinions or feelings.

Look at college campuses these days. It's a progressive indoctrination camp that focuses on equity as much as education.

At my last job, we had a Gen Z guy in India who would just fake tech issues when he didn’t want to work.

You notice all the honkies in that cartoon carrying boxes. If they aren't gay or handicapped (protected class) that is exactly who is being let go right now.

I have sent my daughter and stepdaughter to college, so unfortunately I have had to tour too many campuses.

And I dont have a shtick. I'm a trophy husband a la Jefferson D'Arcy. Just cashed a 6 figure check today from a little transaction, so thanks for your concern.

Maybe, but I do think what we’re seeing in Gen Z (not all of them but a lot) is that they have absurd expectations and have been ill-prepared for the workforce, particularly college educated ones.

I’m optimistic for the Gen-Zers who aren’t like this (because they are legit awesome) but the ones that are will be a problem.

The class that started college during the Covid craziness, by the time colleges got back to normal, they were juniors and seniors.
