I'm going to be in town on Monday for work and I'm trying to decide which one of these places to get a Po Boy. I usually hit up Parkway for my po boy fix but they're closed on Monday. I've been to most of the popular places (Casamento, Nola, Johnny's, R&O,) but have yet to try either one of these. What do the experts suggest?

Domilise

Mahoney's was good when it had the original ownership
I've only been once since ownership changed and have never been back

Guy's is an option as well.

Domilise.

I lived closer to Mahoneys' (which is darn good) but always preferred Domilise.

Just get there around 1130a. Noon rush is bonkers.

Guys, although there isn't much room to eat there. Domilises puts that cocktail sauce or whatever it is that ruins the poboy

It's just straight up ketchup.

I usually ask them to leave it off.

My vote goes to Domilise’s. Many great lunches there post-Katrina.

Your sandwich, you're paying for it. Tell them to not put it on the sandwich---fixed.

Tastes like budget ketchup

Why do I have to remember to tell them not to frick up my poboy?

I lived between Dom and Guys for 20 years. If i was walking one way it would be toward Magazine.

Mahoney to me is not in the conversation, $25 poboys that still aren't as good.

Domilise's of those two. But agree with other posters who mentioned Guy's as another alternative. Had to divert when we were down for Mardi Gras due to the Domilise's line. Guy's was pretty damn good with a generally shorter line

I've always been partial to Frankie & Johnnie's on Arabella St. When I was a kid my parran lived right across the street from it and I'd eat there pretty often when visiting him.

Never had a bad meal there.

Thread should be “Guy’s or Domilise’s” and the answer is Guy’s.
