1. Sean Connery
2. Daniel Craig
3 (tie). Roger Moore/Pierce Brosnan
4. Timothy Dalton
5. George Lazenby

People who rank Lazenby high are just being contrary.

2) Sean Connery
3) Pierce Brosnan
4) Daniel Craig
5) Timothy Dalton
6) George Lazenby (only reason he is last is because he was in only 1 movie.)

In the 90s, HBO ran License to Kill all the time. I love it, and it's got some of the least ridiculous scenarios in it, other than when the stuff bad guys in the drawer of flesh-eating sea creatures or whatever they were. They always were gross looking.

It's got a young Benecio del Toro, Robert Davi, Wayne fricking Newton. Two smoking-hot love interests. It's a banger.

I say this as someone who greatly prefers Brosnan and Craig, but Connery is the best Bond.

Roger Moore may be in the discussion simply because he dominated the role for the longest amount of time for most people.

Connery
Moore
Brosnan/Craig
Dalton
Lazenby

License to Kill is awesome. And yeah it was on HBO all of the time!

Brosnan is the best 007 but that also probably has to do with Goldeneye coming out for N64 in my younger days too.

OHMSS is one of the best stands alone Bond films though. He didn't have a bad film unlike Moore and Dalton and Brosnan.

Sean Connery will always be who I think about when James Bond is mentioned.

I was going to say the same thing. I think it's a generational thing. When I was growing up, the only Bond I knew was Brosnan. Add to that the hours upon hours my brothers and I played Goldeneye together and he's just the standard

I think those people conflate a good Bond film with having a good Bond.

OHMSS is a great film but Lazeby was carried by Telly Savalas and Diana Rigg performance-wise.

OTOH, I think Moore was a good Bond but had his share of clunkers due to poor writing / a stylistic choice to go with high camp as much as anything else.

Octopussy in particular strikes me as a muddled mess while Golden Gun and Moonraker kicked the camp factor up to 11.
