Do you maintain it yourself or do you go have it trimmed by a professional?

I try to trim and shape my beard myself, but I'm never completely satisfied with the way it looks.
Thinking seriously about going to the Bearded Barber in town and having my beard done by them for an upcoming event.

I usually get it trimmed every 2 weeks at a barber shop. Costs 10 bucks, well worth it.

I've been busy so I missed a few trims, I look like Happy Gilmore's caddy right now.

While in the shower I use no guard when trimming neck and use a 3 for the rest. Since I perform this in the shower there is no massive amount of whiskers scattered across our bathroom counter. I can't shave normally due to the horrific amount of ingrown hairs that I will get so this has been my best option.

My son just bought me a similar one in March.
I use a #3 all around and shave my neck with a normal razor,

Trim it myself free hand/no guard. Will have my barber trim it when I get my hair cut if it's getting messy.

No beard oil. I don't like my beard looking greased up and shiny like LeBron.

Don't shampoo it every day with my hair, normally just a few times a week so it doesn't dry out.

Mine has some curl to it which I prefer so I just hit it with the come some but not much because I don't want it straightened out. Keep it medium length.

I keep my mustache trimmed bc I hate it touching my lips. Other than that, it’s cut when I get my hair cut.

Scruffy trims it himself, but he does get his barber to clean it up when he goes for a cut.

I have a Wahl trimmer that I’ve been using for years and hasn’t crapped out on me yet, knock on wood. It’s not the fanciest and I’ve tried to retire it and move on to more expensive trimmers, but nothing I’ve tried works as well.

I trim every 2-3 weeks.

I was never big on the oils and washes until one day I started noticing dry skin and flakes around my chin. To combat that, I began using a beard soap from a small local business called Dank Beards and Pinaud Clubman beard conditioner.
Along with beard oil, those products got rid of the dry skin. I’ve used a few beard oils, currently I’ve been using Every Man Jack beard oil because it’s mostly natural ingredients.

Not a beard, but goatee, and yes I maintain it myself. Beard Butter works wonders. But, I did "splurge" last week when in New Orleans on a visit to Aidan Gill for maintenance & a shave...

I'm not hating, I just don't know how people do not use beard oils/balms/creams. Mine gets dried TF out if I don't.

I use The Man Brand Hemp Beard wash every shower, and Honest Amish beard balm after every shower. The wash significantly reduced my beard dandruff, and the balm keeps is moisturized and a groomed look so it's not dry and wiry

Use a 12 or 15 length, and keep it basically the same length all over.

Barber does a trim every 2 weeks as well, but I don't like it looking too homelessy so I run clippers maybe every 4-5 days otherwise.

Used to use beard balm, but I honestly don't notice a difference, so I quit
