Nah. Alcatraz has great scenery. Trump should build a CECOT style prison in a place like North Dakota in a remote isolated area

It will probably cost more to refurbish Alcatraz than it would to just use it as inspiration - a bunch of barges in one of our Great Lakes.

I mean, yeah, frick criminals and all that, but are people escaping from the Supermax in CO or something? Why the specific need for a 'substantially enlarged" facility on that specific tiny island. Seems much more expensive than bumfrick South Dakota or something. Just feel like spreading some federal cash around San Francisco?

I watched a video about CECOT recently and the most surprising thing was that the inmates that were interviewed were like “ehh, it’s really not so bad in here.”

Of course there’s a major power imbalance so it’s impossible to know if they were speaking freely.

yep.

And a list of judges longer than the lines at Disney World just waiting to shut it down based on not meeting their personal standards for detentions, no matter what Bureau of Prisons says.

They should round up all the degenerate homeless in San Francisco and the thugs over in Oakland and use it for them

Problem solved

simplest solution is to tear everything down and start all over...any bets that a lawsuit will be filed about demolishing a historic structure?

When I went national park rangers were running the place so I'd assume there's some red tape that will have to be dealt with.
