The White House on Tuesday slammed Amazon for reportedly planning to display the cost of President Donald Trump’s tariffs next to the total price of products on its site.

“This is hostile and political act by Amazon,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said at a press briefing.

“Why didn’t Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years?” Leavitt asked.

She added, “This is another reason why Americans should buy American.”

Amazon shares dropped more than 2% in premarket trading following the remarks.

It really doesn’t matter to me.

One thing that is telling though, Amazon doesn’t have a filter for “Made in America” products.

They work with a CCP PR firm what do people expect?

I think all stores should display taxes that are embedded in the pricing, why not have transparency. However, the tariffs would only increase the prices if the stores decides to pass on those costs. Let them and then if Walmart wants to sell the same items but pass on a lower portion of the cost they can show that too.

I don’t understand why Bezos thinks this is a good fight to start.

Amazon Prime failed to deliver the two items that were promised to me yesterday. Bezos needs to figure that one out, now.

Folks, Bezos does not run AMZN anymore. Andy Jassy is CEO.

Haven't had Crapazon for several years now. No need to. It's all junk from them.

He's replaced Wal-Mart as Red China's top salesperson. What do you expect him to do?

Most people do not realize that.

He sold $12 or $13B, total, last year. He still has well over 800 million shares of Amazon, though. So, to pretend a guy with a ~$160B investment in a company doesn't care what happens there is a little silly.

I mean, Gates hasn't run MSFT in years. He still has about $15B in stock, though.

How dare a retailer break out taxes from other expenses on the receipt! This sort of thing has never before been seen in America!

Normally i'd be just fine with this by Amazon but Biden first put tariffs on China. Why did Amazon not add this feature then?

So now we can see what's made in America and what's Foreign crap. Maybe now I can finally buy a phone charger that won't melt my battery.

Like Netflix, Prime ain't what it used to be

I don't have any issues with transparency.
