Conspiracy theories that never come to fruition.

I remember my dad saying his friend in the 80’s had a device on his brand new car that increased his gas mileage 10 fold. When he brought it to the dealer they quickly whisked it around back. When he got it back the device had been removed, and the car got its normal crappy gas mileage. Looking back that was bullshite, but back then we believed it. Any similar stories?

Heard a story when I was a kid about a magical carburetor that somebody had invented. Gave you over 100mpg. Shell bought it for millions just to keep it off the market.
Looking back I can’t believe I was that gullible.

I flick my lights at ANY car that doesn’t have lights on.
I’m still here today to post about it.

that was true, and you can buy it at almost any auto parts shop, the caveat is you have to have a sustained average speed of at least 100mph over the course of your drive for it to be effective

I’ve heard several times that cures for cancer exists. However, cancer is big business for Doctors and Hospitals, therefore they hold back the cures. I don’t believe this conspiracy anymore!

Around 1980 I told my 4th grade class that my grandaddy used a special gas to drive nonstop from the Mississippi Delta to Houston. My teacher and class all laughed at me. I had forgotten the word for propane.

just a wild wild nonsensical notion to begin with. plus media fear mongering.
Does anyone know if there’s a good documentary on the mass hysteria surrounding Y2K? If not, would be a good opportunity.
