For the truck owners and aficionados out here, I'd like some advice on which truck model to consider. Obviously as the greasy car salesman says "the feel of the wheel seals the deal", but would appreciate some perspective from the folks who have had multiple before. Background: we live in a suburban area, have three young kids that are starting to get into sports, like to take the kayaks to the river/lake and such. Have driven Toyotas/Lexus for all of my adult life and love them, but not sure where Tundras sit in the world of trucks. Reliability is probably the determining factor. Don't foresee towing much more than a small boat at this time. Wife has a minivan that we use mostly for getting around town, but it's difficult to fit much in there besides people. Thanks in advance!

What are you trying to haul?

If I was buying a new truck today, F150 with the 5.0 or GM with the little Duramax. I don't like the 6cyl Rams and Chevy can't seen to get their V8s right.

Full size, I assume?
If considering used a 2.5 gen Tundra with the 5.7 V8, last year made was 2021. I am not confident the problems with the newer TT V6 models have been sorted out.
If new, the F150 with the 2.7 TT V6 seems mostly reliable.
Also if you can get a new GM without the cylinder deactivation, that would be a good choice also. I think some lower trims with the 5.3L V8 can be bought without that system.

Avoid any of the new full size trucks with a turbocharged V6.

Whatever doesn't fit in the van, you shoved in the boat.
One of the best times was when the trailer got a flat and I got left with the trailer and boat on the side of the interstate when my dad went to go find a tow truck.
No wide use of cell phones back then.

I have a 23 Tundra and love it. Looked at every truck on the market before buying and switched from an F150. Have no regrets buying it.

If you get an electric truck, make sure to get you a set of these:

it'd be easy to suggest your tundra ram or f150 but i'm sensing a hyundai santa cruz type truck for you.
life will be limitless with this truck for you.

A roof rack and a hitch cargo container and they would most likely be covered, you can carry a ton of stuff in and on a minivan. In some ways they pack better than a truck.
The question is does the OP really want a truck, if not then the van can be equipped to likely carry everything they need.
2 0 Go drive them, figure out which models and trims you like, and then ask GROK to do some analysis for you. Easy money.
