As we went through this past season, I gave it a lot of careful thought and reflection relative to how we need to move this organization forward and what kind of leadership that will take. Joe was someone I was very familiar with, having dealt with him over the past few years at league meetings. My decision today was not hastily made, and not without spending valuable time talking to players, coaches and league officials. That input was critical. I am excited to get started in providing any and all of the resources, as I have done in the past to the team, to get us back to winning.”

FYI it’s literally what everyone said confirmed.
They were comfortable and familiar with him so that was it.

Translation: they didn't bother to search for anyone with any talent or ability, she is just making the lazy hire.

I am just wildly impressed at how the team has managed to unite and piss everyone off royally.

Yet Willie and Loomis still have a job.

She did EXACTLY EXACTLY what we all said she was going to do. Making the exact wrong choice.
Can't be said enough, but frick Gayle, Loomis, and everyone involved in the Pels and Saints. Thanks for making us unserious and a laughing stock.

Joe was someone I was very familiar with, having dealt with him over the past few years because Mickey would bring him up daily when we meet to discuss what an awesome job Mickey is doing. My decision today was not hastily made, and not without spending valuable time talking to Mickey about it. If the greatest GM to ever walk God’s green earth approves of Joe, who am I to question it? I look forward to discussing this Willie at Easter service this Sunday, Mickey tells me he’s also doing a great job.

Sounds like they probably knew months ago they wanted Dumars and talked to people asking if they thought he'd be a good hire.
Not exactly a search, but if true, at least they asked around about him.

Most league circles are laughing at this hire

This is what is happening.

Gonna play devil's advocate, even though I HATE the hire.
They went away from "comfortable" and went with Griffin. Went through MULTIPLE coaches (SVG, Gentry, & Green) with a "vision" that Griffin instilled. Only for it to fail and flounder. A star player who can't get out of his own way. A second star player who is soft as charmin. Bad trades and decisions. Someone who was more car salesman talk than actually the right thing.
Steering the franchise into stability into the next "era" means a semi-rebuild. Moving on from a franchise star that is 2nd only to Embiid in terms of reliability. Reaccumulating assets for a rebuild and starting a 2-3 year redo with likely moves relating to shifting away from Zion, McCollum, and Murray. Dumars has been the VP of BB operations for the NBA, he has seen lots of franchises and how its run, maybe he has the right 'connections' in how to at least optimize running a situation
He comes in, installs a new front office, staff, training, nutrition, scouting, etc. That is going to take time to turn around IMHO. In doing so, firing a head coach and hiring another one like Mike Malone will be EXPENSIVE for no return over the next 2-3 years; with continued discord publicly if he were to not contend or succeed right away.
While this path, you finish out Green's contract while everything else around him improves;if he doesn't improve it --- there will ALWAYS be a good head coach being let go, go after it then.

Go look at the Facebook comments. Pels social media is deleting them as fast as they possibly can but it seems to be a losing effort.

frick Gayle Benson with a disease-ridden dick. Someone please find more information on her support of child sex abuse so we can have an owner who deserves a team.

If I'm right, I wouldn't act like I called it because it seems too calculated and this franchise is not that calculated.
That's how my approach would be at least.
