Jose Francisco Garcia-Rodriguez, 73, immigrated 45 years ago on a ship provided by the U.S. for Cuban refugees. He was recently arrested while on his way to work.

Riggs said their family has been seeking help for citizenship in the U.S. for more than 10 years.

Don’t give a shite. Like the Central Americans that have been on TPS for a hurricane that happened 20 years ago, buh bye. He got shitty advice from a lawyer and now he’s fricked. Welcome to the party pal.

Not gonna lie, that's unfortunate. But ya gotta figure he hasn't exactly been beating the door down trying to get his citizenship.

Rodriguez arrived in the United States with just the clothes on his back, Riggs said, with no education and not speaking English. He struggled and made mistakes, paid for them, and for the next 43 years lived a good life, raising a family and working hard labor for 40-60 hours a week, paying taxes and paying into Social Security, which he never used. She did not elaborate on what kind of trouble he got into all those years ago.

Because of his earlier troubles, Rodriguez wasn't able to become an official citizen, despite 10 years of trying, she said.

"We thought once he paid his time, once he did everything that the authorities asked him to do, that was it," Riggs said. "Nobody told us he had been put on a removal list."

Garcia was told by officials and lawyers three years ago, she said, that it would be better to stop trying, to lay low and continue to work.

Would be interested to know what crimes he committed.

Otherwise I’m not sure his guy is who I picture when I think of our immigration problem.

Apparently he didn't lay low enough. Don't trust the democrats when they say lay low.

My question is, why is this old timer, 73 years old, still working and being a "caretaker" , seems he was more caregiver and a ATM, to his family.

Why didn't his step-daughter, Roseanne Roseannadanna, try to hide him better. I bet it was that bitch and her boyfriend Chico that turned in the Old Man.

Yeah they’re purposely leaving something important out here by not telling us his crimes.

He was brought over “on a ship provided by the US government” as a Cuban refugee somewhere around 1980. The Cuban Adjustment Act allows Cubans who have been living in the US for a year to apply for a green card. He was given a chance at US citizenship on easy mode but screwed it up somewhere in his first two years in the US.

Don’t forget the people Castro sent us at that time were the people you saw living under the overpass in Scarface. Castro emptied out his jails and flooded us with some bad hombres.

In any other nation on Earth where is it expected that immigration law be ignored?

This is very unfortunate but that that was an assumption, not anything written into law.

Of course until DJT, our own worthless, lousy politicians on both sides of the aisle didn’t bother to uphold our laws either ….so I can’t come down too hard in that respect on this fella.
