Finally, a true shooting guard?

Sounds like the kid from Australia can shoot it. 41% from 3 is pretty consistent. It has been a while since we have had a true shooter. Who would you say was our last one? CJ?

Don't want to be this guy but Ward shot 41% his last season here, 46% in SEC play.

He shot 158-338(46.7%) on FGs and 37-91(40.7%) on 3PTs in the WCC
Last year we had a transfer from the OVC who had shot 227-525(43.2%) on FGs and 76-176(43.2%) on 3PTs in the OVC. That was Sears who shot 119-315(37.8%) on FGs and 59-186(31.7%) on 3PTs at LSU.
I am happy with the guys we are picking up but transitioning from a conference that is not a power conference is still just potential. Sears' numbers were not awful, they just weren't exceptional either fell short of expectations. So only time will tell if he ends up being a true shooter here.

The Australian kid only took 2.8 3 pointers a game last season. Hes not really a shooter, just hit for a high percentage on what he did shoot

3pt volume is whatever but 90% from the FT line is as clear an indication that he’s a great shooter as there is

He looks slow and doesn't seem good at creating his own shot, although he does seem to be a decent spot up shooter. Considering the non-existent offense McMahon runs, I think he's going to struggle to score in the SEC, especially against the more athletic guards.

Must have attended fellow Aussie and former Tiger Eddie Palubinskas' free throw shooting clinics.

Cam Carter shot 39% from 3 this year. I get that he technically didn't cross over into the 40% range but that's more than sufficient on a semi-decent team.

The rant: we need some spot up shooters
Lsu:recruits spot up shooter
The rant: He doesnt seem to create his own shot, and the last good 3 point shooter we got from a smaller conference was a dud

His sophomore year he shot 36% on 140 attempts.
He’s 6’6 , so he’s got good size .

So, you get this guy open looks and a good volume of shots to find out if he can keep up that pace. Too many coaches nowadays miss out on pure shooters being integral contributors because they don’t implement sets within the offense to run them off screens for open looks.

With the transfers and recruiting class, i like what we have at guard. We need another post player to pair with jalen reed.

I'm sure Sears had a lot more open shots at his last school

Sears struggled because of his size. Height can overcome some of that. Plus he was a 2 forced to play PG.

That's kind of my point. The same is true for this guy though he is taller than Sears, so that is an advantage. We will need to see how he does vs SEC teams before judgment can be passed. None the less I am hopeful. Damn it
