Does he become the full time DH at some point?
With the way he’s swinging the bat, I’d like to see him get more opportunities against RHP, instead of just being a platoon player.
Josh Pearson has been streaky throughout his career, and it seems like he’s not as hot lately as he was a few weeks ago.
I have no doubt he’ll get hot again and be a big part of the team down the stretch, but why not go with the hot hand for the time being?

Frey, with more ABs, could make a JJ-like ascent

I understand why he is comfortable with Pearson, but i just feel like he is missing out not seeing what Frey and Brown can do more consistently in the lineup together.

Pearson in SEC so far

5-25 (.200/.276/.320)

He's been the worse regular in the lineup thus far.

I’m excited for Frey and really hoping he takes that next step this season, which it’s looking good thus far despite a crowded lineup. And looking to next season he would be a needed power bat in the middle of the lineup.

I’m ok with platooning guys but after the last two weeks I think Frey has to be in the lineup everyday. He obviously has power but he can hit for average too. Pearson is such a streaky hitter. I would give Brown more AB’s to get in a rhythm and mix Pearson in if Brown struggles.

Yeah, I agree. He already had a soft spot for Josh, as we all do, but that hot streak seems to have clouded his thinking a little here. Frey has such enormous upside, and he is finally tapping into it, even as the competition has ramped up, and it feels like Jay is holding back the lineup by not having him out there.

I'm a little less sold on Brown, just because I don't see him really drive the ball a whole lot, but if you could guarantee me that his batting average will stay this high, I would surely take it and be fine with him in the lineup every day. He certainly has earned the right to stay in there until he proves otherwise.

It's one of those good problems to have, but I do wish Frey got more playing time.

Ethan seems to hit with more power and runs the bases better than any other DH.

If Frey becomes a full time DH, he will transfer after season. Teams don’t draft DH.

He’s only a part-time DH right now.
How would him moving from part-time DH to full-time DH make him want to transfer?

You don’t know this. He could find his way on the field next year.

They draft anyone who can hit and hit for power. They’ll find them a first base spot or in the outfield.

Frey seems to see lefties really well so I’d expect him in most lineups around middle of lineups against lhp starters.

I prefer Pearson’s bat towards the bottom of the order over Stanny. Give Curiel a shot at CF, he’s plenty capable. Brown should be every day in RF imo. I still think his bat heats up at some point this season and he gets the HR stroke going.

I feel like Stanny is most likely to return to the mean as a .270 hitter on the SEC, and since he has no power and his speed doesn’t really translate on the base paths , I’m just not sure he gives this team enough to play every day long term.

Brown RF
Frey DH. Needs to be in the lineup every single day.

Pearson. Love him , but he needs to hit the bench.

Glad you posted that stat. Some of these batting averages get boosted in the mid-week games. So it looks better than it is.

Stanfield is too valuable defensively in CF. If he hits .270 in the 9-hole, playing CF the way he does, I’d take that in a heartbeat.

Three years ago what happened with the Frey-to-catcher experiment? Interesting thought had catching worked out for him
