If you were a kid when it came out you probably love it. I’m in the same boat.

Not sure how this board feels scout Boondocks Saints, but look up it's RT. I remember loving that movie so much, but then shocked when I saw how much critics loathed it.

For whatever reason, Hook was never my jam. I don’t hate it or think it sucks or anything. I just don’t particularly care for it.

I loved BS back in college. I actually rewatched it for the first time in prolly 20 years a few weeks ago. It’s still good. While not quite as good as I remembered it, I enjoyed it all over again.

Its honestly a really enjoyable film. Just another example of hoe critics often get things wrong.

The acting is pretty awful all around, as are the special effects.

Dustin Hoffman was the only guy who knew the assignment. He fricking killed

I also love the movie

That seems to be the common theme of discussing Hook.

I was a kid but rewatched it a bunch of times later on and last night for the first time as an adult and loved it. Thought it was a cool telling of the Pan story. Robin Williams a little bit of an interesting choice but did fine and he was of course really popular then

Kills me that Spielberg hates it so much. It’s classic, IMO.

I enjoyed it but I was also a kid.

When I think Peter Pan I think Hook. Always have and always will. It is just a fun movie. I like fun movies no matter how deep or shallow they are.

I was born in 1972 and have never seen Hook.

No idea why...

Hoffman crushes, but Robin Williams does a fantastic job, as well.

It's Julia Roberts who sticks out like a turd in a punch bowl. Tink should've been a blonde cutie from that era, not another nagging wife character.

yeah, I hate Julia Roberts in that movie. Tinkerbell is supposed to be a jealous bitch as she was in the original cartoon whenever peter talked to any girl, but Roberts just seemed off.

I think Williams, Bob Hoskins and Maggie Smith acted great in that movie. They did their assignments perfectly. Hoffman of course went above and beyond and is the quintessential Hook, imo.

I thought the lost boys acting was fine for kids.

The only things I would change is cast anyone else as Tink and make it so Hook only takes Jack. The little girl seemed relatively pointless in the movie and Jack's brainwashing by Hook may have been more believable without his sister there.

In fairness she was going through some personal shite when they were in production. Keifer Sutherland and her had been engaged and she was going through a very nasty break-up after he had cheated on her with a stripper just prior to their wedding.

That being said, she was apparently a bitch on set to everyone - including the kids. The production crew referred to her as "Tinkerhell" throughout filming. Spielberg has stated that it was because of that experience that he has no desire to ever work with Julia Roberts again.

I straight up will not be watch any movie she does because her acting is so horrible; been that way for me for 15 years now. She was not even okay in Erin Brockovich where she won an Oscar.

Robin Williams (RIP) was excellent as a grown up Peter.

Movie is great. I have no idea what critics were expecting. It's a kids fairy tale and a great what-if Peter Pan grew up tale.

Julia Roberts is awful though. That movie came out when Julia Roberts was becoming a big star which is why they shoehorned her into it. She looks and acts nothing like Tinkerbell and is just an annoying distraction in an otherwise good movie.
