This country has a big problem: its children are not good readers.
Five years after the pandemic first closed the nation's schools, national test scores show students backsliding in reading all over the United States.
There was one exception: Louisiana. In 2019, Louisiana's fourth graders ranked 50th in the country for reading. Now, they've risen to 16th.

Best to put a paragraph detail. Link with no description is a bad post.

TL, DR, reading scores have improved a lot.

Going from last to 49 isn’t an improvement

I remember when they were trying to pass the casino bill, EDUCATION & ROADS were the selling points.
So where is all the Casino revenue going if not to education and roads ?
short answer: out of Louisiana

So basically 34 States fell behind Louisiana in reading comprehension more so than Louisiana actually improved its reading comprehension.
Yikes.

While other states have not made a full recovery, Louisiana has and has improved upon that. Why not be proud of some good news on education in Louisiana instead of trying to downplay it.
Any improvement should be met with excitement, even if it is small.

According to an even more granular analysis, Louisiana is the only state that has not only made a "full recovery" from the pandemic in both math and reading, but has improved upon its reading scores since 2019. Nearby Alabama has done the same in math. Those results come from the Education Recovery Scorecard, a joint venture by researchers at Harvard and Stanford.

Posting just a link in the OP for a story like this is something someone who was poorly educated would do.
Therefore, you went to a Louisiana public school.

Counter argument: it’s still in the state
Just in “certain individuals” pockets/bank accounts

I think you are the one needing some help with reading comprehension. Read the passage below and answer the following question.

What kind of person wouldn’t want to celebrate success of educators and students?

There has been no success to celebrate. Education at all levels is a payroll factory completely detached from its purpose. Cut education funding at the federal, state and local levels.

This sounds like a great, reasonable place to begin your argument.

It's because North Louisiana product Cade Brumley refused to listen to that dumbass sloth from South Louisiana.
There's no denying it- Brumley is a rising star and Louisiana is lucky to have him. Louisiana is showing measurable improvements in education. That's huge for us and our future.
