its called cap winning with a 2 yr extension filling a huge roster void.

Now even I will admit this was a stupid signing.
Johnson has done nothing since getting his last pay day.

They should have given him an incentive for yards after catch. Maybe that way he could actually start picking more up.

Keep in mind he was going to count close to $7M against the cap in dead void charges this yr if we didn't extend him. So in terms of cap management this is favorable if you consider that as an offset

That's why we kicked can with Carr's contract. To allow us to eat these void years.

The "offset" is just kicked down the road.
And he's simply not that good. $10M/year for a guy like him, ignoring the cap, is silly.

If this is actually real, I need to see the REAL details on this because just at first blush this is insane. Juwan lowkey isn't very good at all.
Posted on 3/11/25 at 2:31 pm to lsufan0582
Now THIS is what we can be pissed about
Juwan Johnson sucks

I think it's the dead cap. Like Cam last year.
These are the extensions of mediocre/old players that become necessary with our cap strategy.
*ETA: this seems to indicate they plan on more big signings

Great, we are only signing our own players from a 5-12 team..

The reason TE is a “huge roster void” is because we have guys like Johnson and Moreau who are considered bums
