I have a Nissan Xterra that I absolutely love but have been shopping around for a Pathfinder or Forerunner because of mileage on the X. I have never had a second car, but with the Tesla price tags being so reasonable, I am considering keeping the X for towing or when I need storage and getting a Tesla for everyday use. Their pricing seems to be considerably more reasonable than anything else out there.

I am posting this on the politics board, because they way Elon is being targeted just makes me want to support them even more.

Waiting for the low priced one that’s supposed to come out. We will see.

EVs aren’t practical if you take road trips over long distances. I have friends in Colorado that I go visit sometimes. Not about to hunt for charging stations all across the countryside, that’s silly.

Why not? Seems like an EV would be the perfect vehicle for everyday commuting. Again, I would have the Xterra for longer trips.

After a test drive and you’ll love it. It’s fast, fun, great safety features, and it makes driving and travel so much more convenient. It’s the perfect around town commuter vehicle, especially once you have a charger at home. Never go to a gas station

A lot of complaints I see about Teslas on here and other places make it clear the people complaining have never been in one or driven one because the complaints don’t really make sense.

Only reason not to get one are if you regularly travel long distances, you need to tow things, or live in an apartment or rental where you can’t charge overnight a few times a week.

Even complaints about road trips from people don’t make any sense, I think road trips in Teslas are actually a lot more relaxing and enjoyable in general for a lot of reasons, not even including the self driving the car does. I can expand if you’re interested

I'd buy one for around town driving if they weren't so expensive.

300-400 miles when my commute is less than 5 miles?

Tesla is a good second car option. Truck or SUV for trips and towing and the Tesla for trips around town.

I think the prices soon will be tempting but no not really. The interiors on Tesla's are very bad.

Yah the Model S Plaid from 2022 or 2023 seem like a heckin steal. Can get one with low mileage for under $55k. They were over $100k brand new

Not sure if this really "helps" Tesla to buy used from a liberal but it makes sense for me more than buying new.

Yes I’m getting one - they are awesome vehicles and these protests against Tesla won’t last - it’s bs and fake anyway

Not I. Mileage is too iffy and dependent on weather while charging takes far too long, those just aren't things I want to pay a premium price to experience. Along with that, both the wife and I are often back and forth between BR and Memphis so neither of us wants to extend that travel time by ~40 minutes (2x 20-minute charging stops per Tesla's own mapping system).

Huh? The Long Range Model 3 is $35K after the $7500 rebate, plus they are doing 0% APR right now. How is this expensive?

Regarding those complaining about charge times and such, I have not had to sit at a charge station now in over a year. I plug mine in overnight using my nema outlet, and it's fully charged the next morning. The only time I have to use a charge station is when I do plenty of driving to and from BR, and even then I make it on a full charge. On the very rare occasions that I do have to charge, it takes 10 minutes to get me charged up.

Stop believing the antiquated fear stories about charging being a problem.

With that said, long distance trips are more cumbersome. Don't get into an EV without knowing its limitations.
