Nobody I know goes to a seafood buffet or any buffet.
Where are there even any seafood buffets these days?

So funny as a Catholic to watch:
Good Friday lets sacrifice and have a crawfish boil
Fat Tuesday let drink
Wednesday Seafood galore lets eat
None of this is sacrifice. If anything, its an embarrassment to the religion people do this.

Jesus didn’t have any alcohol for 40 days either, Jack Daniel.

Neither is diddling little kids but the Catholic church doesn't seem to have issues with that so Ill continue to live my life the way I choose.

To be fair, that rule predated South Louisiana culture and it wasn’t factored in. #Winning.

+1
Our priest went over the guidelines this morning at mass. Fasting means 1 meal, and you can have 2 smaller snacks that together don't equal a full meal. Abstinence is abstaining from eating meat. "Replacing" meat with a shrimp poboy, fries and hush puppies isn't prayerful and misses the point of the sacrifice.

People should go volunteer or help a neighbor in need. Do some actual good in line with Jesus' teaching rather than some antiquated Old Testament nonsense.

Ask Altar Boys about their sacrifice.

We live in New Orleans.
Our Friday lent tradition is to dine at our great local seafood restaurants. I have been doing that all my life.

I just think people should practice how they chose as long it doesn't cause harm/inconvenience to others
If someone abstains from a burger and eats crawfish, what's it to you? Not like everyone is replacing meat on Fridays with a crawfish boil. Not every week at least.
You also don't have to sacrifice something. You can give or do something instead
