Isn't the theory that the new owners are trying to destroy the franchise to justify a future move to Las Vegas?

An insane theory that will never happen that anyone with an ounce of knowledge about the league says is bullshite, but yes that’s a theory

You’re thinking of the plot to Major League.

Way weirder shite has happened in the league/american pro sports.
The new ownership group has been very clear about their plans for the franchise being tied directly to a casino/gambling. If they aren’t able to achieve that it stands to reason they will be interested in moving to a place where they can execute their vision.
And while there have been rumors for going on like 10 years now about Vegas expansion, the Adelson’s will want to be the one’s bringing the nba to vegas.
Not sure why it’s so far fetched. The AA center is a dump and the city probably won’t be interested in rewarding the ownership group who tanked the team with a shiny new arena

You’d think they would have bought one of the several franchises that recently went up for sale in a place where gambling is actually legal if that were such a primary goal. Or waited and gone after the inevitable Vegas expansion franchise. I don’t think there’s a snowballs chance in hell casinos are built in Texas in 10-15 years, and I am pretty sure the expansion fees bring in way more than the relocation fee.

They bought a shite ton of land at the old Texas Stadium in Irving that they are planning on developing a casino/resort on.

They are banking on texas legalizing gambling which opens up a gigantic market of untapped demand. Way bigger than all those other locations.
A casino in Dallas is worth way more than one in phoenix.

Maybe they already know LeBron’s getting that

Is it really that insane of a theory? It's eerily similar to the events that happened before the Sonics moved to OKC. Schultz sold the Sonics to new ownership, they shipped Ray Allen out, new ownership did everything they could to alienate the fans to justify relocating to OKC.

I don’t see the state that’s currently waging war on pornography and THC letting that happen anytime soon but I suppose they know a lot more than me

Dallas is a huge TV market, with all sorts of corporate money and they love sports there. They aren't about to let a team leave that market. They can sell an expansion Las Vegas team for a whopping amount of money. Why let someone move there, then wait a couple of years to try and get an expansion team in Dallas? Hell, you know they're just waiting for LeBron James to retire so he can be part of the Vegas group.

Pornography and THC? Best legislate morality.
Gambling? Think of all the tax dollars
Hypocritical? Absolutely. But that's politics on both sides of the aisle

Bro the NBA is not dumping a top 10 media market city in the middle of a ratings crash

I don't see how normal fans go to any games anymore

Mark Cuban has to be having a meltdown. First, he never would have traded Luka.
Secondly, he was adamant the Mavericks would never leave the Dallas city limits.

First they trade there best player for an older player who gets hurt alot and now they raise ticket prices. Sounds like a great plan.
